Cell Phones in Houston not working?

    Anyone have an idea about cell phone situation in Houston? I am in Austin having problems calling out and receiving calls....have heard the same from a lot of people in houston

    sprint lets me get calls sometimes and make calls sometimes but i can't check the voicemail.

    I'm in CS. I can't call Houston. My voicemail is not working either.

    To many people calling the same area at the same time causes phones to become busy.

    too much phone traffic in the houston area, this problem is not going to go away, it started at about 1 pm and im still having trouble recieving and dialing out calls. i have tmobile too

    My verizon works about 1 out of every 50 calls today. I couldn't check my voice mail for a long time either. I'm in Austin, but I have a Houston #.

    My Verizon service has been dropping calls as well... I can only imagine that its going to get worse. :(

    This same thing happened both before (and obviously after) Katrina when I tried to call relatives down there in Franklin, LA.

    My dad is in Lake Jackson (well.. he was, now headed to Dallas) and he started having trouble reaching me here, and vice versa, yesterday.

    Call volume from loved ones, motel reservations, etc. is extremely high and will be for a few days, not to mention the impact of the storm as it makes landfall, no matter where. :(
