I've been on a family plan with T-Mobile for 2 1/2 years, and now we're looking to move it over to Sprint. Just wondering what people think about Sprint's service in Houston, as well as all over the US (My sister is in NYC and also on our family plan). I've tried going to http://www.howardforums.com/, but it's not loading up for me. Also, if you have any phone recommendations, or what not to buy, that would help. Thanks
When i was in houston, i had sprint and i didnt like it very much, but that was 3 years ago or so. they might be a lot better now. i have cingular and i've never had any problems with them.......however, my wife has cingular and she thinks they are satan. go figure.
I have Sprint and though I live in the Dallas area, where it works perfectly well, when I've traveled to Houston, Galveston and Austin, it's worked just as perfectly there (as well as in New Orleans - Pre-K, of course - Los Angeles, Alburquerque, Phoenix, El Paso, Abilene, Amarillo, Little Rock, Oklahoma City, Tulsa... I think those are the only places I've been since I started using Sprint).
I have a Verizon phone for work and a Sprint phone for personal use.. I've been with Sprint when the only large cell companies in Houston were Prime Co and Houston Cellular.. I like the Sprint service better than Verizon’s, it gets and holds signals better than my work phone, but my work phone is good over seas... As for phones I have always thought Sprint has been behind the ball and never really had the best phones, but their service is cheaper and better for what I need it for..
I had Sprint - I had coverage problems at work and in some neighborhoods. I switched to T-Mobile and have no problems.
I have had Sprint Family plan for 3 years now. I have had verizon and prime co previously.. I have no problem with drop calls since I rare get one these days. Coverage problem has been an issue that i dont get the signal I want at work.. but thats not something I care too much of. The service is outstanding IMO that I have gotten everything my way.. special offer is great as well. Pricing seems to be lower than other competitors. But yeah as someone stated above, Sprint's phone selection gotta be the worst in the market.
I don't live in Houston but I switched to ESPN Mobile which uses the Sprint network. I like it tons more than Cingular.
I had Sprint about 5 years ago, and I couldn't wait to dump it. Horrible service in Manhattan. Couldn't even get a signal in my apartment. I've heard it hasn't gotten much better since I got rid of it. Verizon, on the other hand, is the sh*t.
I've had Sprint since 97 when it first came out. Never had a major problem i couldn't fix through customer service.
Thanks for all of the info guys, greatly appreciated. Stack24, teknokid, Da-Glyde, & mrpaige, what phones do you guys currently use? The guy at the kiosk in Baybrook Mall was trying to sell us Sanyo (according to the salesman, it was voted best cell phones by JD Power) and Samsung phones. As mentioned before by teknokid, their selection of phones isnt that great. At the same time, I dont really care much about all the high tech stuff, I just want a phone that serves its purpose: as a way to talk to people without dropping or cutting in and out. Any suggestions? VesceySux, I'm hoping that Sprint has fixed the problems in NYC from 5 years ago, or my sis will have the same problems you did
Sprint was great for me for 3 or 4 years in Houston, Austin, etc. I always had Samsung's with them, and I never had any problems. The higher-end Sanyo's also got good reception. However, Sprint is still horrible in NYC. And pretty bad (comparatively) in the DC metro area. In fact, they just don't have very good coverage generally on the East coast. If you're out here, you should probably be with Verizon or Cingular.
I have sprint and think the service is great. I never had any problems even this weekend when I was in New Orleans. And if you are someone that routinely goes over your minutes they have some free incoming call plans and they save me a lot of money. When I am low on minutes I call my friends and tell them to call me right back and the entire call is free since they called me.
Stack and I have the same phone, I think... Link My Fiancé has this phone, she has had it for close to 3 years now.. Link
Yours and Stack's phone is way out of my league. How does your fiancé like her phone? WhoMikeJames, is the reception poor because of the phone? or the service? I think my dad may be interested in your phone...
Im not really sure. Its just that sometimes when im with my friends they have like 5 bars and im stuck with going from no signal to 1 bar over and over. Some locations i get full reception like downtown and the highway for some reason. If i was your dad i would get it. Its a really nice phone. And if the reception was that bad why would so many people still have Sprint?
My family has had a sprint family plan for a while now and we have no complaints. We get good coverage pretty much everywhere, my sister and I are in Austin while everyone else is back in Houston.
I've been with Sprint since 1999. I use a Sanyo Dual SCP-6400. I'm on their sliding scale where you aren't charged when you go over your allotted minutes. Never had a problem with them, although I am waiting on my contract to expire (next year) so I can get a new phone.
She likes it, but I'm not a fan of it.. The sound is kinda odd to me, you have hold the receiver just right to get a good sound.. It's been rock solid though..
