Ok am I the only person who considers it freaking rude as hell to call somebody from a noisy place (bar, stadium, loud restaurant, car with stereo turned up, airplane tarmac, etc) and then expect to have a conversation with another person who is in a quiet place? This forces the person in the quiet environment to yell into the phone for the person in the loud place to hear them. In addition, the conversation is strained because the person in the quiet environ has to repeat himself many times for the person in the loud environ to hear him. There need to be some guidelines put in place to limit this. I'm sure there are other examples that you may have encountered. Discuss them here.
so i assume you don't like it when i sit behind home plate, and call my buddies and wave into the camera so all my buddies back home know I'm at the game?
If you're female, young, hot and like to show us something, then that behavior is completely acceptable. In all other cases the person is just a tool.
Hmm. There are a lot of people answering "No". Please justify this. Fatty, you don't need to respond.
I think it's rude unless the call just can't wait that it has to be made in that type of environment.
If it cannot be avoided, and the call must be made, then so what? I normally make it a point to find a quieter area to make a call, but if not, so what.
Yeah if it can't be avoided, duh, make the call. I'm talking about conversation type crap that's not important.
Thats why 90% of my calls goto voicemail. If its important, leave a detailed message. If not, don't b**** on why i haven't called you back.
It's rude if the conversation is casual and unnecessary. If it's a brief conversation that has a specific purpose and is ended quickly, like "don't forget to pick up milk on your way home" or something, then no, it's not rude. 95% of my cell phone conversations are brief. I don't spend much time on the phone.
Hmm, never thought about that though. Come to think of it now, it is kinda rude to initiate an unnecessary call from a noisy public place. This thread is a good reminder.
I talk pretty soft when i'm on the telefoon, if the other person cannot hear me, i will just ask him to call back later. But i'm not sure if i would call it rude, i would defenitly call it unwise
One time I was in the emergency room, and these people had their nextel phones. They were each two-waying someone else at the same time in two different conversations being LOUD!!! Now, that is annoying. You heard their entire conversations. Then, to top it off, their kids were running around like crazy and they were yelling at them from afar to stop!!!! Ok, Rant Over!!
Cellphone rudeness/cellphone etiquette is huge with me. I get very annoyed with the following: 1. Someone having a loud cellphone conversation while seated at a restaurant. 2. Someone's having a cellphone conversation while driving an automobile that makes their driving hazardous to others on the road 3. Someone calling from a loud place to you while you are in a quiet place (thanks sexxy). 4. Someone having a cellphone conversation while in line behind you at a grocery store or convenience store. 5. Someone having a cellphone conversation while at a crowded bar, especially when they are in front of you and you are trying to get the bartender's attention. 6. Someone having a cellphone conversation on the workout floor of the gym. There are many more. I really think that the answer is for public places like restaurants and bars to either have strict no-cellphone policies, or to set up "cellphone areas" like smoking areas. Cellphones, while a great convenience, have made the average American a ruder person, IMHO.
No kidding. I hate when somebody calls me and leaves a message saying, "Hey, its me, gimme a call." That really pisses me off. Is it so hard to send a text that says call me? I don't know why this irritates me so much.
Usually when this happens at the store, or any place where the offender can hear me, I initiate my own cell phone convo. But it usually consists of me telling the person I called that I'll call them back because, (in a loud voice while facing the offender), 'this f'n azzhole loudmouth behind me can't shut the f up' so I can't hear you. Usually, I'll get my ass kicked or that person will stfu.
