anybody watching this? richard jefferson has already blown 3 dunks, missed a 3, dropped passes, and is actually trying hard out there. trying to dunk on 6 footers and swatting them out of bounds. hilarious.

it's amazing how slow a game looks when NBA guys aren't playing.

They just said Mobley is coming into the game in the second half. I love that Cat and Jackson really get into the spirit of All-Star weekend.

the amazing thing to me in this game is just how bad everyone is at holding onto the ball. like just dribbling and all of a sudden losing it or dropping a pass that hits them in the hands (these aren't exactly blazing fast passes either). i expect the bricks and turnovers, but not that little coordination. presumably these guys are here b/c they have at least a little bball experience.

that boy cuttino gets him self into so much stuff. whether he's just passing in the dunk contest or actually in the 3 point contest or playing in the celebrity ASG or being on regis and kelly or in nba league pass commercials, he pops up everywhere. i guess that publicist thing is working.

God this Rookie Challenge is stupid. At least the 'PA announcer' is.

They have a 9-year old kid doing the introductions. Now I understand the idea of promoting youth, but this is ridiculous. The Lakers PA announcer is known for his simple and straight-forward, no-bull**** calling. They even have their intros in light (which I think is classy).

Now I'm not trying to be too critical, but it wasn't a great idea to have a kid announce the starters in my opinion. He announced the players the same way each time, which I just found annoying.

Especially when it was time for Chris Booooooooooooooooooooooooosssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Now I'm going to get reprimanded for bad-mouthing a kid.

It wasn't just you, I think everyone was annoyed and had their ears in pain from listening to the kid. You should check the comments in the rookie challenge game thread in the GARM.

The only thing he was kicking was my eardrums. I shudder to think how it actually sounded in the Staples center.

LOL, I remember I bash him in a rox/nug game thread earlier.. I didn't know he was a kid though, I thought his voice was so weird and horrible, I couldn't really tell he was guy or girl. I was asking why the nuggets would hire someone likes that.

man, what was up with paris hilton? chick seriously needs help. jim gray, or whatever the dood's name is, went to interview her during the game and part of it went something like this...

jim gray: "so do you play any basketball?"
paris hilton (with a serious look on her face): "yes i do, but not professionally or anything... just for fun."

she's just a real life kelly bundy from married with children.

Lol then Jim gray replied "oh, not professionally? That's surprising"

Even though I don't like most of Jim gray's ass kissing interviews during games, I didn't mind this one =) All the ESPN guys were sucking up to Paris like the TNT guys were sucking up to Lebron in the rookie game. LOL

That kid was horrendous. Just awful. He took all interest out of that game for me, and it never recovered. Basketball is exciting for a number of reasons, and one of them is presentation. A big, booming PA voice helps to set the mood of the game, and adds excitement. If they were going to choose a kid to do the lineups, why that one? His voice made me want to tear my ears off and burn them. What the hell was the point? Do five year old kids really get into basketball? I doubt it.

So listen NBA, enough of playing to the toddler market. Lose those f***ing Sesame Street adds while you're at it.

By the way, when the hell was the celebrity game on? What channel? I didn't see it anywhere...

I personally think she was much more interesting than the whole game itself. I am glad the ESPN paid so much attention to her... I mean first she brough a dog to the game.. and then she was talking on her cell the whole time... and her interview was just hilarious.
Besides, she looked like she was not interested in basketball at all, but just liked to sit there and looked pretty..

It was on ESPN just before the rookie game. Rockets Cat and MJ led the Braves to victory over coulda been a Rocket Richard Jefferson and the Lakers.

you know what zrb? I agree with you. Why did they get a kid to do it is beyond me. You need the "thunder of god" PA voice to get the fans excited.
