Everyone else is getting props now but CD and his crew deserve a hell of a lot also. There was a lot of ridiculous criticism of him earlier this year ... now can you identify any mistakes they made this year? Every move now looks like a steal ... TMac, Wesley, Deke, Barry, Bowen, Howard, James, Sura... wow.

    Thanks CD!

    Mo Taylor for Moochie/Vin?

I know it was a chemistry/money/contract issue, but we sure could use another PF for the long haul.

Well ..obviously, getting rid of Boki was a mistake ...but other than that ...CD is golden

imagine how good we would be with Boki backing up T-Mac

I swear, the Charlie Ward signing was just to make him look human.

The design of this team is just incredible. And with a first round pick, a full MLE, a solid cap situation (aided by the MoT trade), and 2 international prospects potentially ready to be part of the rotation, it's only going to get better.

Edit: codell - the 1 minute per game Boki could get when Mac is out would be huge! :)

Edit: Faos - I shudder to think what MoT would be doing on Dirk right now. I suspect we'll be able to use the MLE on a PF now that we don't have to pay Mo 19 million over the next 2 years.

In "long haul", you probably mean for the rest of the 2005 playoff series, right? It's still too early to jude this move by CD, and I guess we'll figure it out next year, if (when) we hopefully pick up a decent power forward. Of course, it was a gamble and with Juwon going down, it's even more evident that we probably lost our depth, but in some ways it may have been a blessing in disguise with the way Ryan Bowen has been playing against Dirk. For some reason, I think Dirk would've really gone off on MoT.

Wow, people are still questioning the MoT deal? I don't see how you can spin it as anything but a steal. We dumped an unproductive player with a ridiculous cap figure for a much lower figure in 2 years. And a slightly lower one next year. And got rid of a whining guy who wouldn't play defense or rebound on a team that preached defense. At least the guys we got back seem to be good for our atmosphere so far, and don't really whine and complain about getting pt.

Getting rid of Boki was a mistake? So you'd rather have Boki and JJ than Wesley? I sure wouldn't. Don't say they would have done the deal without Boki included because it's definitely been a youth movement over there with every trade.

(And honestly, I've watched a good number of portions of Hornets games with League Pass, and I'm still not sold that Boki will stick on a team in this league. He may bounce around for a while as a 9th man..)

I think kaleidosky's response is spot on WRT MoT (and like NIKEstrad the thought of MoT trying to gaurd Nowitzki makes my knees weak).

As for Ward, he served a purpose early on. Also, I presume that JVG had some none too insignificant influence in that decision.

CD has done a very good job accumulating the pieces. Personally, I never thought we'd be so good so fast. I felt we were getting too many old players who would be over-the-hill by the time we became contenders.

    We are contenders.

    My takeaway from Mr. Dawson's performance this year (and Barry's, and Wesley's, and Sura's, and Mutombo's . . .):

    Youth is overrated.

Yeah, it can't be said enough what a wonderful job CD has done this season. All the trades worked out brilliantly, especially the best trade in Rockets history back in June. The best thing is how set the Rockets are for the future as previously said by NIKEstrad. After Moochie, Baker, and Weatherspoon are all off the books, lookout! I hope we can keep Sura, James, Barry, and Wesley together as long as possible (which won't be too long considering their ages), but I'm confident CD and JVG will keep signing the right role players. It's very evident that JVG knows who to sign. Who woulda thought Bowen would ever have been able to contribute something worthwhile? Wait'a Go!

How about Rod Strickland's role? Dude deserves team MVP consideration ... if he had not sucked up the joint at the EXACT right time, just before the trading deadline, we may not get Mike James.

And seriously... who gets a guy like Mike James for a couple of second rounders just before the trading deadline? That's sick. Two huge steals by James last night and one monster steal by CD back in February.

I've been marveling at the James trade all series. James has been HUGE. I love that he pulled out his championship ring after Game 1.

The deal just doesn't seem fair ... I almost feel bad that we pulled that trade off...

    Almost.

Sura should also get some credit too for being injured at the right time to allow Strickland to suck really bad. Really, really, bad.

This injury was as well timed as David Robinson going down allowing the Spurs to pick up Duncan.....

    ....close enough.

That's arguable, but come the end of Moochie and Vin's contract we won't have any regrets I don't think...especially if we find someone good to spend that money on.
