......about 15 Minutes ago. CD called into the radio station and had good things to say. Rudy and Cd got a chance to watch 3 hours of the China National Basketball Team practice hard. CD was very impressed with Ming. Ming played the High post mostly and he was double and triple teamed. Ming is a great passer, he had no TURNOVERS.

Ming was banging against Beeter of the Denver Nuggets.

CD and Rudy also talked to Ming for a couple of hours. Our guys handed Ming a media guide from last year, and Ming's first question was how's MO Taylor. He also asked about the other players. CD said MIng new Griffin. Huh? I do not understand that.

Cd said that Rudy commented about Mings English and that it was better than CD's. The Media is going to love this guy.

    Argh!

    :D

Irritated, then smiling. "Geisha." In another thread, "Sumo." In a third thread, "Sushi."

    Hey, dudes. CHINA. Not JAPAN.

Probably you guys already know this and are just being facetious in your posts?

EDIT: OK, there, a sake reference while I posted. Hee hee.

I was hoping you guys weren't being serious. I dated a Japanese for a few years and I was always amazed how little people knew about Asian cultures and thought they were interchangeable.

I'm glad the boys got to meet and talk to Ming and he seems knowledgable about the team.

Ming impresses every time he speaks. This is a little intangible that makes me love him. It's so great to once again have a stellar interviewer on the team. We have to be the worst team on interviews.

    think about it through history:

    Moses Malone
    Hakeem
    Sam Cassell
    Moochie
    Rudy

could/can barely be understood and Newlin has that cute lisp.

Drexler would recite from is "Protect Your Imagine" Manual

Lloyd, Wiggins, Lucas and MadMax weren't exactly good for diplomacy although Lucas is now.

Sampson and Francis seem to be writing autobiographies in their minds.

Cuttino is nice enough and has the "God" quotes from religion, but doesn't think before he speaks about the team.

Griffin won't speak up loud enough to get a quote

    Calvin Murphy is a clown

Cato could do it, if some Houston journalists weren't waiting to pounce on any misinterpretation they could invent.

Elie, Smith and Thorpe were pretty solid and Horry made the girls swoon, but most of what I remembered was wanting to know what the Dream and Rudy had to say.

I recall Reid, Barkley and now Rice as the best interviewers, and only Barkley was expected to be a floor leader for us. It will be so great to finally have a floor leader who is great with the press, and Ming sure is smooth.

What makes you so sure Ming is going to be a floor leader in his first year? You don't really expect Ming to show up right before the season starts and just say "listen up, this is my team, I'm your leader now!" If Francis isn't good at interviews, than how come he made it onto the "all interview" team last year? When it comes to interviews, I think I'll trust the expertise of actual journalist.

No, no Will. They were drinking Ginseng Tea, eating pan-fried noodles, with a side of fortune cookies.

The german commentator of last years all-star game said that Cuttino and Stevie were the coolest guys he ever interviewed. I really like how Ming is handling the media obligations though.

Will, you are just devastating! :)

I can't wait for the first reporter in the US to ask, "So, is the sushi in America as good as in China?" :D

    I'd apologize for being off-topic...

... but no one else has yet ;).

I'll have you know I've had sushi and teppanyaki in China, and I'd have to say it was superior (overall) to sushi/teppanyaki in the US. Probably because they're targeted toward the Japanese businessmen roaming the lands.

Great news out of Beijing. Hopefully this silences the diminishing anti-Yao crowd... "waaah, waaah... they're hiding him from the Rockets... he must really be a 5'3" gimp, and the Chicago workout was conducted behind smoke and mirrors."

It impresses me that he has been doing his research on his future teammates. It would not be surprising if he has even been posting here on the BBS. Any guesses on who his alter identity is?

I think all will become clear at his introduction press conference, when he announces we have to get "rid of Ruddy".
