Guys, I am not able to recap, but if anyone can give a link or something to this interview (there is a LOT of Rockets talk in it) it would be appreciated for those who did not here it. CD might just be the GM of the year! P.S.: I know this has been adressed a few times before, but man if 610 could at least give access to these radio segments on their website or something (even if you have to pay a few bucks a month for it as a service) it would be great! We would never miss another Rockets interview. So just an idea. EDIT: Chance, if it is possible to post the interview audio clip on the "Audio Vault" on SportsRadio 610's website, like you guys have previously done, it would be greatly appreciated!
I listened briefly on the way to class.. He commented on Badiane, saying he's doing well and has improved on his offense. He said he is very long and in the Kevin Garnett mold. Also commented on that one other draft pick I can't spell, starts like Spanoulis?? I have no clue what his name is but he said he's a better shooter than we expected and has hit several game winners and is starting to become clutch. Here is the part that made my smile all the way to school. He said that the chemistry of this team is "unusual". They always hang out and stay at each others houses regularly. They are all real close and good friends, CD said he's never seen a group of guys so close before, even from his years as a coach. He described them as being "unusual" several times.. I have the feeling something is VERY special about this team. That's about all I caught before they went to commercial and I arrived at class. Hope that helps!
awesome thanks for the info looks like Yao has some new friends but that is good to hear that they hang out off the court I think it makes them more in-sync on the court and its showing. Hopefully this can lead to greater things, we'll know after the all-star break

damn, now you are making me smile but i wonder if ALL the guys hang out together.. maybe the white boy power squad hangs out on their own.. i can't imagine padgett and john barry going over to tmac's house or anything like that.. seems so unlikely...
Thanks for the recap... This chemistry 'off the court' is really paying dividends on the court. I honestly think that the age on this team is a good thing. With guys like Sura, Barry, Wesley, Deke (and Padgett to a lesser extent) getting up there in years, they realize that the 'window of opportunity' is closing. They are mature, intelligent, and know their roles. They trust each other, and they trust our stars. They put the team and winnning as their #1 priority. It's this leadership and guidance that the rockets have not had in years...
WHAT - I don't believe this... that is not what SINA says !!!! SINA says the team hates Yao and Yao hates the team SINA says the evil man Sura plays jokes on Yao in the locker room SINA says that Yao wants to go play for the Lakers (or whatever home town team the "translator" resides in) btw - we had this chemistry before (with the ISO crew... Mo, Cat, SF3, etc) they all wore black arm bands when one guy was traded - nevermind how that made the new guy feel.... (Doug Christie are you listening!?) it can be a bad thing too
CD said: 1. He's pleased with the progress the team's making. He thinks the team is still one or two pieces away from a being a championship contender. He's contemplating a TMac for Penny Hardaway trade. Both salaries match. He believe TMac is a top 10 player in the league RIGHT NOW, but Hardaway simply has more potential. "The sky is the limit for Penny", in CD's words. 2. The Rockets will be a big player in this Summer. His top priority is Kevin Willis from the Hawks. A SnT would be necessary if Kevin wants more than just the MLE. Sura and Wesley might be on their way out in exchange for Willis. 3. He said he's not impressed with Swift from the Grizz at all. Memphis offered Swift + 5 first round picks for MoT, but he laughed at West and hung up the phone with ferocity. He had to buy a new phone after that. 4. He's thinking about bringing in Larry Smith as an assistant coach for JVG. While pleased with JVG's recent performance, JVG's health is a concern. He's suffering severely from baldinitis and eyebaggititis. If his health can't hold up, Larry Smith would be his first choice to replace JVG. 5. When talked about the possible retirement for him. He said he wants the team to win a championship before he retires. However, if the team can't do it this year, he'll happily ride into the sunset. Les' top choice for replacing him will be Isaiah Thomas from NY or Elgin Baylor from LA, and both have expressed sincere interests in this job. CD thinks since both Thomas and Baylor come from big cities, and they will both do a good job here in Houston as well. 6. ABC wanted him to be "The Bachelor" badly a couple years back, however, he was too devoted to the Rockets to be distracted by the show. His refusal sent ABC scrambling, who had to choose Jessie Palmer in the end as a second-choice. 7. He thinks the posters are Clutchfans are right on point for most of the times. "JVG and I read the forum everyday, and it has been a tremendous knowledge resource for our management of the team", said a jubilant CD.
additionally, he spoke of messages he received from other GMs following the Boki + JJ = Wesley deal........ they thought we had improved our line up.
the SINA stuff - was a joke (hense the + ) the black arm band stuff - reallly happened when Mooch was traded
I like the team chemistry as well. However, there is just something about the word "unusual" that I don't like. What it is, I dont know. The more he said it, the more worried I became...
