I don't know how many people caught this but CD was on for a bit on the Mark and Rich show. I didn't catch the whole thing but he did mention that Yao is in the best shape he has ever seen him in. He is really glad that Yao had a break for the first time in like 5 years and the Rockets have some one working with him. He says Yao is down to 8% body fat and much stronger than ever. He also talked about all of our gaurds and how we got caught last year with a shortage do to injury and that the situation will work it self out.

He also said Yao would be back in town in late September. It's hard to believe it's almost that time again.

Thanks for the recap, wesnesked. Yao is down to 8% body fat? I wonder what body fat percentage Shaq is at? :)

In other Yao news, this will be the first time ever that he will spend an entire training camp with the Rockets in the U.S.

Rookie year: He missed all of training camp.
2nd year: He came into camp late and missed a couple of days of JVG instructing the team.
3rd year: The team went to China and didn't have a full camp to gel.

But this year, Yao is scheduled to come back in late September. Couple that with most of our chemistry guys coming back, and only needing to incorporate a couple of new players into the system, makes me insanely optimistic that this team is ready to take off.

I'm psyched. Don't see a repeat of the terrible start we got off to last season, I see the team bolting out of the gate and dominating, I really want to see JVG put Yao to the test right out of the box and see if the big man can go 35+ mpg from day 1.

Thanks for starting this thread and posting CD's comments. I tuned in just after he finished. I heard some of Worrell earlier in the day and he also gushed over Yao's condition and fitness.

A request to those of us who are fortunate enough to have internet access during the day when listing to AM610: If you hear a worthwhile interview, please start a thread right away and mention all you can remember. I would do it myself but I always hear the interviews in the morning right when leaving for work or during the day between sales calls and I usually can't post anything until the evening.

It's frustrating now because no one knows when JVG, CD, etc will be on and we are all grasping for every tidbit of information available. It's a good frustration though because we have something to look forward to this upcoming season. :D

I hope CD is telling the truth...he always used to say it about Dream, even when he was WAY past his prime.

I worry a bit about Yao's Ankle.....I would appreciate it if any of our Chinese brethren have seen him play lately, and how he looked.....specifically did he move well?

:D Well. That's the strange thing. I don't know whether to be upset I'm back in classes, or happy that the Rockets season is near. I'll take the lather. Go Rockets!

I'm going to miss around 40 games this eason though because my Cable Provider sucks!  :(

I wouldn't put too much stock into this. It's just like the Chronicle's yearly reports that Hakeem was "in the best shape of his life." It could be true, but I'll reserve judgement until I see him on the court.

Yeah. :) I'm going to be downloading those full game torrents this season it seems.

I wish Cox would put the $0.35 addtion to our bills to show the FSSW games. It's hard enough to be missing 40 Astros games, now I can't imagine how I'm going to be when I can't see them this fall (Rockets games). I think I'm going to get Dish Network and drop Cable.

Yao and CNT will play their 1st Asian cup game against Iran in a few hours. Iran's center is taller and has longer wingspan than Yao. Their 7 feet power forward is supposed to be quite good. So, this game should give us a hint on how well Yao has recovered.

Could someone please post one of the pics of yao working-out in China w/ Anthony Falson(?).

I cant find the original thread that had the pics in it.

I thought it would make a nice compliment to the thread with CD talking about his 8% body fat.

    Thanks :)

you have a point but those new pics of yao with falsone that someone posted last week were proof. he CLEARLY looks in the best shape he's ever been. i don't know how is ankle is but his upper body is almost even with those tree trunks he has.
