Caught the part where Sura was put on a slow program by the doctors and doesn't like it. He wants to work hard and fast. Talked about Stromile Swift being able to get up the Floor quickly. Also, talked about ALston's ability to get the ball up the floor. CD said he has never seen him take his time to bring the ball up the floor. CD said they were very fortunate to get DA. That helped him trade Mike James and he wasn't scrambling for players like he was last season. Sounds excited about the season. Thats about all I caught.

I only caught a little bit but he was saying that getting derek anderson helped them to trade off mike james and with sura and ward hurt last season he didn't want to go through a situation like that again.

He compared swift to robert reid and how he can run the court like a mad man.

    That's all i caught.

this is what i can remember from the interview

sura played with alston at GS and said he liked him
tempo should pick up with alston
having DA allowed rockets to make the trade
    team is deeper everywhere now
sura is eager to get back, but doctors have him on a caution plan
alston is high strung because he's passionate and some of his problems stem from sam mitchell being new to coaching
    nice to have howard back

I only caught the end of the interview: Rafer Alston had recommendations from Sura when they played together(I didn't know they played together) and he said that Sura wanted to get back, but needed to do nothing for now so that the surgery could start healing. Other than that I don't remember much.

In the first part of the interview, he repeatedly mentioned how important it was to get a guy like Alston, because since almost everyone in the back-court was a score-first pass-second type of players (Mike James), they needed a guy who had the pass-first mentality and who played under control with limited turnovers.

OH yeah, CD also Howard worked really hard in the offseason, you would not even know he was hurt last season. Also said Howard is very professional and a very important part of this team.

why does DA make it possible to trade james for alston? doesn't make sence when trading PG for PG.

Because DA gives them scoring off the bench.

I like Sura, and I like the Alston signing, but a recommendation from Sura about Alston from their time on that sorry arse G.S. team means jack squat.

It's like I said in the other thread : you can call James a PG, but he's a scoring and offensive option. DA is that. Alston is what James is not - a guy that can set up the offense and make good passes. We replaced James with DA and added a PG we sorely needed.

exactly, and they were talking about Tracy running the offense just a few days ago, which I'm sure he can do, but now he doesn't have to worry about which should free him up even more than last season.
