I'm going to throw you guys a curve ball on this one. For some questions, getting it wrong will result in deductions.

    1. Pick the division winners and wild cards. This year, also pick any team that will get 90 wins but not make the playoffs. Correct answers get you 1 point per team. Any team you list here that has a losing record will result in a 1 point deduction.

    2. Pick the winners of each playoff series. In any round in which you predict a team to win that didn't make the playoffs, you will lose one point.

    3. Predict the league leaders in OPS, slugging, OBP, homers, ERA, and walks (fewest for a qualifying pitcher).

    4. Pick the awards. RoY will get you 2 points this year.

    5. Uber-question 2k9: list the teams that will lead in the following categories: OPS, ERA, wins... and most improved team as well as All-Star game starters (somewhat easier than the last uber question). If you pick a team that finishes out of the top 5 in that category, a team that loses more than it did last year, or a pitcher that doesn't make the all-star game, you'll lose 1 point.

    6. Make your own question.

A completely correct answer will mean a free rookie.

Oh, one new addition to the prediction challenge 2k9:

You get .1 added to your score according for every person that posts *after* you as long as you don't revise your post. So if 12 people took the challenge, the first person would get (for an unedited post) an addition 1.2 points. The second would get 1.1.

Ah, once again, the majority overlooks the defending champ, Baltimore Orioles.

I may be going through some cosmetic changes, but the O's will be back, and the O's will win the AL East.

Like George Zimmerman, I guarantee it.

He he... I meant all-star game PITCHING starters only:

Oswalt, Anderson are my picks. I said the question was easier :).

My question: Will any records be broken this year?

Answer: No, for the first time in sim league history, all current single season records will be retained by their current owners.

This is just sort of a running list of who got their questions right/league leaders/all-star starters, etc. It'll make the final tally easier.

    Questions right:
Zac, (not sure about DHR), Cat

    Division winners/wild cards:
Richmond (haven, DHR, Nomar, Zac, Cat, SF3)
Cleveland (dbc, DHR, Nomar, Zac, Cat, SF3)
    Colorado (haven)
WC: New Orleans (no one guessed this)

New York (haven, Nomar, Zac, SF3)
Houston (haven, dbc, DHR, Nomar, Zac, Cat, SF3)
Arizona (haven, dbc, DHR, Nomar, Zac, Cat, SF3)
    WC: Atlanta (haven)

    Order of post:
    SF3 (gets .6 points)
    DHR (.5)
    Zac (.4)
    Cat (.3)
    dbc (.2)
    Nomar (.1)
    haven

    League leaders
    AL OPS: Foster Gonzalez
AL OBP: Foster Gonzalez (Zac, Nomar)
    AL SLG: Adam Dunn
    AL HR: Joe Borchard
    AL ERA: Ryan Anderson (haven)
    AL Walks:

NL OPS: Lance Berkman (haven, dbc, DHR, Nomar, Zac, Cat, SF3)
    NL OBP: Lance Berkman
    NL SLG: Lance Berkman
    NL HR: Manny Ramirez
    NL ERA: Roy Oswalt
    NL Walks:

    90 win teams:
Baltimore, Texas (haven, SF3), Anaheim, Memphis (haven, dbc, DHR, Zac, Cat, SF3)

    All-star starters:
    Roy Oswalt (everybody. Duh.)
    Ryan Anderson (haven, Cat)

dbc, DHR, and SF3 all lose their Oswalt point on this question for guessing an AL pitcher that didn't make the all-star game.

    Team leaders:
OPS, NL: Houston (Zac, Cat, Nomar)
    ERA, NL: Arizona
    Wins, NL: Houston (Cat)

    OPS, AL: New Orleans
    ERA, AL: Cleveland
Wins, AL: Richmond (DHR and dbc, being generous :), haven)
