21 is an exaggeration. Dirk is not going to get 45 minutes a game on BGM's team. It's more likely he'll get 18 and 7 or 6. 4 points better than LaFrentz and who knows if he plays better D or not than LaFrentz, esp out of position.

No doubt he improved his starting 5 though. He just gave up Miles and a 2nd rounder to improve a little bit over LaFrentz. It's not like he was robbed or anything, I just think kbm got the better end of it.

Miles + Jazz 2nd Round pick = 0 production for me

We agree that Dirk brings more than LaFrentz

so how is Lafrentz + 0 (for Jazz) better than Dirk?

Also where else could I go to get a C that produces at least 16 point/game and give up what I gave up?

I do not think we can evaluate this trade based upon Jazz record. They were bound to improve no matter what. The only wayyoucan measure this trade for the Jazz is if they will suck. [IMG]

As of now they only had a 6-3 record, but they have not had the best of luck/schedule up to this point.

A 1 point loss vs unbeaten Blazers, a loss vs Raptors w/o McDyess, and then the 9pt loss for Wolves.

But we can watch what this trade does for the raptors. Of course if they improve doesnt mean it was a bad trade for Jazz, but if they don't I will say it could be an indicator of that Jazz made a good trade. But of course this is my opinion. They might both be better of.

(Even if the Raptors do not improve this year they got an extra pick so the trade will help them in the future.)

dont get me wrong, Crisco, I think the deal is good for me because I needed depth, but I just dont like the fact that everyone seems to think dirk is not a star in the sim. Look at the stats before I got rid of my front court depth. In 37 minutes, he is getting 21 points 8 rebounds. Here is the link:

    http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum12/HTML/000378.html

In addition, my team defense has always been in the top 5. You'll find that in the same link.

I dont overhype my players or my team! I also state as much fact as I can!

I didn't say Dirk was not a star. He's good, but LaFrentz isn't a slouch either. According to those same preseason stats, LaFrentz got 14 points and 7 rebounds in 5 less minutes. According to those numbers, LaFrentz is very close to Dirk, hence Raef is almost a star.

So almost star + Miles + 2nd rounder > Dirk.

Still, like I said, BGM will improve his starting 5, and will not lose as much recordwise because his bench is still strong and he still has some picks. But overall talentwise, kbm got the better end of the deal imo. This is all moot if BGM goes to the finals to lose to the Nets though [IMG]

If I don't like Dirk, I'll just trade him.

I'm sure there are more GM's that would want Dirk instead of LaFrentz. All you have to do is look at Heath's offer, do you think he would have offered that package to me for LaFrentz?

Miles is just a scrub to me because he will never contribute to my squad because he's stuck behind Kukoc and Lewis. I tried so many ways to get Miles involved in the roster and his numbers were fairly average whenever he did play. The 2nd round in this common draft is going to suck because of all of these new GM's coming in. The jazz 2nd round pick will be pretty average.

I might have given up a nice package, but from the Jazz GM perspective (which matters to me the most), this trade is Lafrentz for Nowitzki straightup. Would you rather have Lafrentz or Dirk? With Dirk I have even more flexibility with my roster. When I get to the playoffs I could move him to the 3, and slide Kukoc to the 2 spot and I'll have a supertall lineup that could handle the Spurs (the team that knocked me out in the playoffs).

He wouldn't have taken the deal if it wasn't nice, but from my perspective, I gave up my starting C for a better starting C, and I threw in Dan Langhi and Carlos Rogers. My 11th and 12th men, no big deal.

I understand BGM, mr trading bug [IMG]

And I'm not saying you lie or cheat people kbm [IMG]

I'm saying I think kbm got the better end of the deal because he got more talent back than he gave up. He lost 4 points or so on offense and an extra guy who can slide to the 3 for Miles and a 2nd rounder.

It should improve both teams though, and I guess that is the bottom line.

I'm happy my humble opinion get's you guys in a tizzy though. [IMG]

BTW LaFrentz's numbers are inflated. He just benefited from the system...

SirCharlesFan, Posey and McKey might be available, depending on what you're offering.

Dooling, Al Harrington, Raptors & Nets Rookie pick for SAR & Mo Pete...I'd throw in a lower bench player too, possibly.

Rahim is a star, so I expect a star in return. But, you kinda dont have a star, so...

Maybe we can work something our for just Rahim only, and not MoPete.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

13 and 8 aren't usually backup center numbers.

I doubt Davis fetches you much better.

    I'm officially finished with trading!!!

At least until my team loses another game, then it's time to shuffle things up again.

    Congrats!

Don't look now, but the Raptors is getting deeper. [IMG]

And even an extra pick next year - I guess you will have to cut a player then, 9 players will be to deep. [IMG] [IMG]
