The idea of having a basketball game was brought up in a thread yesterday, and I wanted to bring it up again to gauge the level of interest. I know games like this have been organized in the past, so any ideas on locations or other tips would be appreciated.

I'm proposing having a basketball "grudge match" pitting perpetually feuding members of the Hangout on opposite teams, and letting them duke it out on the court. I would imagine many of you would like to slam one down on your evil Hangout nemesis. If you have a score to settle, then this is your place to do it.

Give me your ideas on teams, format, etc.

    GAME ON

imo, there is only one day for this. Saturday April 12th, followed by a big Rockets game to honor Smeggy. This is the Seattle, the last weekend game of the year, before the playoffs -- yesh, the playoffs!

Then again, Behad is all set to host a game in Bay City?? on Sunday the 18th and his bbq. How bout two days? Or, if we could just finally convince Behad that 10am to 4pm on Sat. Game day is the way to go, with bbq at 4pm...sigh??

it's my dream Behad....please! Saturday inside the loop will have more cc.net takers. You, Pole and I (and any other pretenders) will have bbq cook-off. ... blind taste....and I will win that Grudge Match.

I'd prefer inside loop 610 and preferably something before April. If enough people show, then I suppose we could have multiple themed matches. I would definitely like to see the grudge-style match, pitting right vs. left wingers.

    Right v Left
    Austin v H-Town
TJ v AB mano e mano..;)

Doin it onthe weekend of Smegfest 2002 seems like the right idea. We will have a pretty decent turnout..guys from out of town will be here...and plenty of good food...Game on!

First off, it's the 12th, not the 17th. And it's League City, not Bay City. What are you, an ESPN reporter?

I don't mind, I'll do Saturday, but I'll have to cook Friday. It takes 12 hours to cook a brisket, and I can't see myself in the park at 4 in the morning setting up to cook! Also, I'll have to drive back to League City to pick up the wife for the Rockets game, which will cut into a pre-game get together time for me.

I probably couldn't play a serious game anytime before April due to back issues.

    I'm down for the cookoff.

I'll need until April to get into playing shape!

Heypee, Smeg's game isn't sold out is it?

Where do the few Dallasites fit in. Do we have enough for a team?

    Ahh, probably not.

Let me run too. Football is my main sport but I play in basketball leagues over the summer. I'm a rebounder, hustler and I love banging in the paint.

I'm in but don't put me on a left or right team. I'll be on the undisclosed team. I think Kam will be on my team as well. If I remember correctly he can ball pretty well. I'm all for a game well before April, but I'll play in April also if I'm still in Houston.

Hey b****, I've lost 10 pounds since you've last seen me, and I've been hitting the gym nearly every day the last two weeks. You're goin' down.

    :)

Put me on the team that needs out of shape short white guys that can hit the open J but that's about it. Actually I've been acused of playing like barkley when playing against people my own size (hobbits?). I've got the post moves but not the height to go with them, that and my ass is big enough to back people in.

I'm not sure exactly where this purported bball game is being organized, but I saw some mention of the Dallasites, and just wanted to state that any games organized here in Dallas would definitely be up for playing in.
