Hello Everybody, I've to date received 13 e-mails from members wanting to play in the game! We need some more people to have any kind of a tournament, but keep on sending me e-mails. I will need more information on how many people will play in order to reserve a venue, but we're on the right track. Right now I am thinking that we should hold the game in the first or second weekend of June. This will gove some people some time off after classes, ans shouldn't be a general problem for regular working folk. Again, we need more than 12 people to make a go of this, and start checking schedules for the first or second weekend in June. I will start trying to pin down a forum ASAP. If we can not garner enough interest within our ranks, then we can start inviting out buddies to play AS LONG AS THEY ARE ROCKETS FANS! P1S2, Autry court is not a place to "reserve". If you need that type of definite venue, I would recommend against. When we first got into this, I was envisioning "pick-up". What we can do with Autry Court is wait until end of finals, which is next Wed to see how the summer pick-up with grad students shapes inself. We can really only play this by ear. We could get a good feel for when the none Rice people play (it does happen), but I wouldn't feel comfortable organizing something until July. btw: i'm out if it is the 2nd weekend of June--business travel. Otherwise, count me in anytime. P1S2, thanks a bunch for organizing this. Schedule it for the majority. Heypartner raised a good point: "pick-up" may be the way to go. In fact, unless anybody objects, that's what I think we ought to do. Most of us have never even seen eachother anyway, and this "pick-up" makes the whole deal easier to put together. I will try to get a definite venue so we can actually play eachother, rather than getting stuck out waiting for other folks to clear the court. Depending on how many people come, we can play "5 on 5" or "3 on 3" or whatever number of people we can put together to play. In any event, I'll get us a place to play. Again, I'm picking the first or second weekend of June, but I may put the game together in early July if I can't get a place reserved earlier.
