ESPN just announced the finalists in the 2002 Heisman Trophy race. I thought we could do a cc.Net voting, in case any official voters are at odds and want some public sentiment. ;)

I voted for Banks. Chris Brown should've been a choice.

I guess with Byron Lefwitchs(sp) injuries and the school he plays for, that knocked him right out of the race. Though I would not be surprised if he is the first Q-back chosen in the draft.

I voted for who I'd like the Texans to choose, Larry Johnson.

These are the actual finalists. Brown wasn't one.

My vote would have actually gone to Griffin. I knew he wouldn't be on the ballot, but I think he's most deserving.

What a joke....if Ken Dorsey didn't have such great players around him and great coaches he would be Chris Simms.:(

My vote would have actually gone to Griffin
A guy that has a vote wrote an article that said if Griffin didn't get the Heisman, it's a sham.....He said he'll vote him #1. Yay.:)

How do the people who vote score them?
Is there some kind of scale like 1st place get five points, and 2nd gets 4 and so on?

    3 votes per ballot
    First place gets 3 points
    Second place gets 2 points
    Third place gets 1 point.

Summation of total points from all ballots = total score.

Player with highest score is awarded trophy

    Larry Johnson fan here.

Just think about how many more yards he could have had if Paterno hadn't sat the kid in the second half of some of those blowouts . . .

I am not a big Pac 10 person, but you can not deny what Palmer has done.

    AB,

The Texans may be able to get him in the 2nd round. All the publications are saying (and this makes since) his draft position is not going that good, but he will be a very good pick for some one. My question is then why is he projected in the 2nd round?

If I am using my first round pick on offense I take McGahee or Rogers and go for O line in free agency.

Okay, why no Clarett? 120 yds a game, team is undefeated. A 13-0 team doesn't get an entry?

Because he has missed like 3 or more games.

I am going with McGahee. This is a guy that was the third-string tailback going into this season. However with Portis going to the NFL a year early and an injury to Frank Gore, it was McGahee's time to step up.

And has he ever! I don't think anyone has done better when given this type of opportunity.

He has shattered all of Edgerrin James' rushing records at Miami, and that is saying a lot.

I think he has 9, maybe 10, games with over a hundred yards rushing, like 1,600 yards rushing, and 26 or 27 rushing touchdowns.

Dorsey has had a great career, but McGahee has had a monster season.

Personally, I wouldn't care if either McGahee or Dorsey didn't win because the other 2 times a Miami player won the Heisman, they lost their bowl game.:(

Yeah, but he did play in 10 games. Isn't that enough?

he had way too much going against him.

    1) He is a freshman, and fresh & soph will not likely ever factor into the mix. That is actually why Willis will not win though he is very deserving.

    2) He was absent either due to injury or his lack of effectiveness in the big games.
