http://www.tmz.com/2011/02/15/lara-...er-raped-sexually-assaulted-egypt-60-minutes/ According to CBS, Logan and her crew were covering a story for "60 Minutes" when they were surrounded by a mob of more than 200 people and she was separated from her security team. CBS says 39-year-old Logan "suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers." CBS continues, "[Logan] reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering." Logan and her team had been detained by Egyptian police 8 days before the sexual assault -- and Logan had reported, "We were accused of being more than journalists, very frightening suggestions were being made. Suggestions that really could be very dangerous for us."
stop trying to be a smart ass. It's obvious there was a violent mob and a few of them raped and sexually assaulted her. And yes the chaos begins.. or continues.. Egypt was one of the more tourist friendly places to go in the middle east/Africa.. Not anymore.. I'm just glad I visited when I had the chance.
I'll go out on a limb here and say it was likely done by the same "pro-Mubarak" thugs that harassed other reporters and not the peaceful anti-Mubarak protesters. It's a terrible thing, no matter who's to blame, but let's not allow this to detract from the immense importance of the revolution via peaceful protest in Egypt.
That is totally going out on a limb. Not all the anti Mubarak protesters are peaceful. With that many people you are going to get handful of assholes. Also not trying to detract from the other events. The one fact I think you can gather is that Egypt is in quite a lot chaos and it will continue till they get some form of order and authority in there.
Oh? Can you show me some articles involving un-provoked violence from anti-Mubarak protesters on reporters? Or even on non-reporters? All the assaults on reporters that I've seen were from paid pro-Mubarak thugs. Everything I've read/heard is that, on the whole, the anti-Mubarak protests were peaceful except when conflicting with pro-Mubarak groups and the corrupt police.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but sexual assault does not mean rape. It's still wrong for her to have been touched inappropriately. Sounds to me like dudes copped feels.
It almost always means rape when they are not releasing enough details. Not sure why they do this. Perhaps its protecting the victim and offering her some privacy. If you see some girl that gets kidnapped they always use the term sexually assaulted first.
Umm where did you get from that article that it was pro-Mubarak thugs? What facts do you have? All I was saying you are going off on a limb when you made an assumption it was Pro Mubarak supporters. I didn't claim they were Anti-Mubarak protesters either. I just claimed we dont know and the only facts we can conclude is that Egypt is in chaos. Do you think All Anti Mubarack protesters are good citizens? That is just hilarious if you believe that. It's like stating all Obama supporters are good people and there are no rapists, murderers that support Obama.
Wow she is pretty. That's terrible what happened to her. I'm always fearful for my older sister whenever she goes to the Middle East for work. She has blond hair, and men over there have a fascination with it since it's exotic to them. She's told me some scary stories of randomly being followed by shady men asking her name and more.
Where does the article say she was kidnapped? It only says she was separated from her team which could easily have happened when they were bullrushed by a bunch of thugs. I never said she wasn't raped. I just said the term sexual assault doesn't necessarily mean rape. It's still bad. Maybe I'm hoping she wasn't raped. You can make light of it by saying maybe they made out with her or touched her boobs.
