In yeaterday's Cinese Media, a CBS reporter (Perry Peterson)interviewed a famous Chinese sportswriter Xu Jichen, who has seen NBA for 20 years. Xu talked about Yao Ming and his NBA road.

Peterson: What kind of player Ming is in your eyes?

Xu: Ming is a genuis. I has never seen a bball player like Ming before. He is tall, smart. He likes to learn and goes all out at the match......

Peterson: Ming is very skinny, can he hold the impact of Shaq?

Xu:Don't to compare Ming with any other bball stars. Ming is a unique player. His legs is very strong. His upper body is not that strong, but this is a advantage of him. He is more agile and less hurtness.......

Sorry I have to leave for a while.

    To be contiued.

Have you noticed the increased number of injuries in the last few years in prefessional sports. I contibute alot of that to the added weight and strength guys have put on in the gym. Look at Collier, he hurt his knee after he bulked up for the NBA even though he didn't play much. Some bodies are not made to carry around a lot of weight or strength. Lifting weight does not make your joints, tendons, or ligaments stronger, it just puts stress on them. I trully believe if you have to eat 7 thousand calories a day just to gain a few pounds, your body was not made to carry that weight and you shouldn't do it.

That being said, I do think Ming could definitely gain 20 lbs in his upper body.

Peterson: In which way can Ming bring impacts to NBA?
Xu: Ming has a great potential. He needs to change himself first to adapt the NBA competitions. Ming will not be Shaq or Dream. Ming will be Ming¡..

Peterson: If he joins NBA, he will be a millionaire. Do you think he will be changed by the life style of USA?
Xu: No. He always gives all his income to his parents. He said that he didn¡¯t care about money, only the match. He has the goals of himself. Ming likes to study Chinese history. His IQ is very high. He began to learn English by himself a few years ago and made a quick improvement. He will adapt NBA and the life in USA.¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Peterson: Ming said that he is a enthusiastic player. What is enthusiasm?
Xu: He wants to be the best player. He wants to prove himself. In Sydney Olympic games, he often asked me what the foreign coaches said about him. He was disappointed that many coaches only said good things about him. ¡°I want to know what is my shortcoming.¡± he said. In Chinese national team, Bateer is the best player who can turnaround and shoot under the rim. Two days ago, Ming told me that he had cloned such actions of Beeter.

Peterson: what are the hobbies of Ming.
Xu: Before 13 years old, Ming¡¯s dream was to be a water-polo player. He likes swimming. He always reads the real history works, not the history novels. If China holds a computer game competition in the whole country, Ming could enter the semi-final. He is very humor too.

Peterson: what will Ming¡®s reaction be when he faces the NBA stars?
Xu: Ming said, first of all, he wants to have the first two point at NBA. He wants to catch up the others¡¡

These are the easiest parts of this article.

We just HAVE to draft this guy, he sounds like the kind of gentleman who will work hard, stay humble, and most importantly is SMART.

The current Rocket team has enough Forrest Gumps to start it's own Bubba Gump shrimp factory.

We NEED smart people who understand how to play and want to get better.

    MING IS THE ANSWER !!!

He seems like a great person. The type of guy you love to have in the clubhouse. I think he would be a great influence to many of the Rockets players. At 21, he seems more mature then most of the players we have.

Who would have thought that we would have to go all the way to China to increase the Rocket's basketball IQ?

Gee DaD, you aren't a little excited about Ming are ya?;) :D ]

Dont take offence..I with ya on that one. From all I have read and heard, he's a hard worker that takes great pride in being as good as he can be. Another thing I have heard that noone mentions areound here is that he is supposedly a great passer. On a team that doesn't know the meaning of the word pass, how could that not be a good thing?

more and more articles are coming out that praise this guy's work ethic. if he has that same desire to learn as dream did, then he's almost a lock to become a star.

If Chineese Govt. restrictions don't mess the whole thing up it sounds like in a couple years we just may have another great center on our hands. Only time will tell. I just hope he doesn't grow with the rockets then bolt for LA or NY ala Shaq.
