Sorry if this has been posted already, didn't see it anywhere.. http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/10877200 The relevant bit is towards the end of the article: "..Guard Michael Redd might be heading to Cleveland from Milwaukee, and the Lakers are talking to Sacramento for a deal involving Lamar Odom for Ron Artest and Kenny Thomas. If they fail there, the Lakers will go after Houston's Carl Landry on the free-agent market.." Oh no we can NOT let that happen.. Has anyone heard this before?
that's funny. I've heard Kupchack say that he's not enamored with the free agent market and that with simply having Bynum back, he thinks thats a strong enough move that doesn't change the cap situation. Somehow I think that this story is reaching.
It doesnt matter because he is a restricted free agent and that means the rockets will match any offer they WILL NOT let Landry go to one of our Rivals zlicciardo
So, they are trying to either trade a PF/SF for a SG shooter (Redd), a defensive SG/SF (Artest) or.... retain the PF/SF and add yet another PF? Huh? I think it is more likely for them to go after Landry if they succeed in trading Odom, not fail.
he's not going anywhere, we'll match any reasonable contract offer. i doubt any team wants to put their free agent money tied up in a contract that the rockets will probably take their full allowed time to match just to eff the lakers, or anyone else trying to sign landry
Again, for the 10,000th time Landry's fate is in our hands. He's restricted meaning we have the right to match any offer he receives and more importantly due to the Gilbert Arenas provision teams are unable to offer him anything above the MLE.
what can cleveland offer the bucks in order to get redd? outside of lebron, not sure what they have that would appeal to milwaukee. expiring deals? hoping we could make a more competitive offer
So the Lakers would rather have a Landry/Gasol front court rather than Bynum/Gasol? Does Kobe play PG and Fisher goes to the bench? As far as i understand Fisher will/can only play for either of the 2 LA teams. Like everyone else says, since we can match any offer why would we let Landry sign anywhere for nothing in return?
Don't really think they need him. With Bynum, Gasol moves to the 4 and Turiaf backs him up...if they do attempt to sign Carl it won't be for much and we can match
The concern here isn't that the Lakers will sign Landry away from us, but that they might drive up his price. Ideally, Landry will take the LLE which is about 2 million. But if other teams are willing to break into their MLE, then that limits our own options for free agency if we want to keep him. Obviously Morey has made some good moves since he became GM, but he definitely botched up Landry's signing. Trying to lowball Landry on guaranteed money and not locking him up for a 2nd year team option was clearly "penny wise and pound foolish". With a team option, the Rockets would have been in position to save at least a million (probably more) bucks this year and next year be in a position to re-sign Landry without breaking into their MLE.
Lakers know that Bynum is trash and they want the guy with the 21 PER who jumps like a kangeroo and finishes. No way do we trade this guy.
1) is landry a restricted fa? if yes, we will see how much lakers is willing to pay. if reasonable, i bet rox will match. otherwise, let lakers get fatty contracts as much as they can. i don't believe getting landry is an upgrade over odom. 2) does Kupchack think every nba team gm is jerry west?
S&T Landry with Jackson to Lakers for Odom? i dont think it works anyways but i'd consider it. doubt the lakers would
rockets are ready to match anything offered by the other teams side comment: anyone have an news about landry making any progress in practicing his 3 point shots and ball handling? if he does learn how to shoot his 3's then i think we have our back up sf/pf that we are looking for. then we could switch tmac with battier at times so tmac can get rest when battier play sg and landry plays sf.
