ESPN will carry Wednesday and Friday games. TNT will carry "exclusive" double headers on Thursday. The upcoming cable "AOL Sports" channel which the NBA will be part owners of (with Turner) will carry games on Monday, Tuesday and Sundays. I guess that leaves the only day with no NBA games on Saturday? Geez, you almost don't need NBA League Pass now......well, almost! ABC will carry Sunday games later in the NBA season (around February or March) and will carry the NBA Finals. TNT will carry all the conference final games. Both TNT and ESPN will carry the rest of the playoffs. TNT will carry all of the All Star Game festivites including the All Star game itself. That about covers it! Chris
That is still being worked out. But below is the information that I can recal from Rudy Martzke's(sp?) USA TODAY TV Notebook. ESPN's Wed night games (and ABC games) is looking like Brad Nessler and Bill Walton. Looks like no more Steve Jones. And all you Jim Gray haters will hate the fact that he also looks like he will be picked up by ESPN for interviews. TNT Thursday: Marv Albert/Mike Fratello/Van Gundy is team 1 and team 2 is Harlon/Ainge/Thomson. Supposedly Hubie Brown will also be involved but I don't see where. This irritates me that he is not on team number one because Hubie is my favorite NBA analyst. He might not be as colorful and "funny" as some but he knows his damn basketball! Not sure the lineup for ESPN's Friday games as of yet but talk is Brent Musberger might do the play by play. Talk is that Tom Tolbert looks to have a studio job with ESPN and Stuart Scott might be doing some studio hosting for ESPN's games as well as Mike Tirico. Jason Jackson was also slated to do studio hosting until he got fired. David Aldridge, Mad Dog Carter and Tim Legler will also be involved somewhere. Not much is known about the AOL Sports channel much less the announcers. Chris
I would think that AOL Sports is just a relaunch of CNNSI, but they probably want to make it look like something completely new.
There probably is some truth to that. When CNNSI disbanded the talent from that channel got the chance to apply for the new channel. I am sure some of personalities from CNNSI will be working on AOL Sports. AOL Sports though is not supposed to be a 24 hour sports news channel like CNNSI but rather have regular programming with NBA Basketball being a HUGE focus. I think a lot of the material that gets played on NBA.com TV will be run on AOL Sports as well. You can never have enough sports. I hope AOL Sports is a success! And I hope my cable company picks up the channel! LOL Chris
I With all this new Programming by over 4 broadcasting partners, I would like to see the "NBA LEAGUE PASS" package drop in cost. Right now it is at $120.00. I see it in the range of 75-100 as being more reasonable.
Anyone know anything about who will carry the local NBA broadcasts? Will UPN20 pick up the games again?
Seriously, it's going to suck to only have the half-time show once a week. By the way, why did ESPN fire Jason Jackson? I thought he was cool. So who is going to be the host of NBA 2night? Carter and Aldridge do the analysis and Jackson ran the show. I guess they feel they don't need him or anybody to be a middle man.
