The only good draft pick he made was obvious (LeBron), and the only great trade he made was in dealing with everyone's favorite GM down in Orlando (Gooden/Varejo for Battie).
The weird thing behind this is that Gilbert wants to pick Izzo, regardless of what Anthony says. Who hires a GM, and in the GM's first big move, vetoes his choice for coach?
Recipe for dissaster....get ready for LeBron in LaLa Land or New York. I think he has a 25% (if not more) kicker in his $91 million Nike deal if he goes to a major market.
Looks like the Greg Anthony LeBron ass kissing fest on ESPN's NBA shows might actually pay off! I think LeBron will end up staying in Cleveland. But this is a HUGE summer for them. They have to do 2 things. 1) Resign Z to a "reasonable" contract. 2) Sign a FA SG that has range: Allen, Redd, Joe Johnson etc. If they can just do those 2 things then I think everything else will fall into place. That team needs outside shooting in the WORST way!
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2030769 Still hasn't happened just yet, according to ESPN, though I'm sure the ax is on its way down. I think the league needs to institute rules that prevent ownership handovers (maybe not the selling, but for certain the handover) during the season. It's absolutely crazy that the league allows an owner to come aboard this late in a season and throw a playoff team upside down like this. It's not fair to anyone involved, fans and players included. Gilbert is a moron for not understanding that he's really making life harder on everyone with his lack of patience. Just settle down and wait until June to make your f-ing mark on the squad! Reports have it that (part owner) Usher's been a distracting presence at games (courtside seats but won't sit down, etc) as well. Evan
I get the feeling that Gilbert might be the NBA's version of the Washington Redskins owner, Dan Snyner.
