http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/2013/01/cavalier-film-room-smash-mouth-kyrie-irving/ For the best body control in the NBA, it's gotta be either Kobe or Kyrie. I truly believe that, although he might never have the athleticism to be better than Lebron or Durant, he will safely cement himself as a top 5 player for the next decade if not #3 behind those two.
I have it on good authority that according to a few upstanding denizens of this BBS that Kyrie Irving is overrated.
I think the general consensus is that as long as he plays matador defense, he'd always be "almost" there.
Has had negligible impact on wins for his team and is a 6'2 scorer who plays no defense. He's insanely impressive, I'll give you that, but he's not even comparable to Lebron or Durant who are physical freaks.
Not fair. His team stinks. And this is his second season.. LeBron Durant didn't exactly have the best records in their 2nd seasons.
He's a lot more of a score first point guard then I originally thought when he first came out of college. As for my impression of him, I would still rank him behind Jrue Holiday in terms of young star PG's in the east.
I didn't say he'd be better than Lebron or Durant...just #3 He just schooled Rajon Rondo, and he's only in his second year. You can tell the on-the-court intelligence is off the charts. If you had to have one aspect of the game for any superstar to not come into the league with and work at over time, it would be defense. Well, defense or shooting. Both those things can progress just as a player progresses. Things like bball IQ, passing vision, his touch around the rim, that kinda stuff is impossibly hard to cultivate once players get to the NBA. You might as well say that you take what your mama gave ya. I have a feeling this thread will become necromancy worthy just like the other past Irving threads.
Where exactly is Harden then? Harden hasn't reached his prime either, he's about 3 years older, but he could very well be the 3rd best player in the game too. If Kyrie will cement himself as a top 5 player, then so will James.
He's 6'3, 20 years old and has the worst supporting cast in the League. Defense isn't great but that will come along as he ages and matures.
Why play defense when you're playing with a bunch of scrubs.. ala James Harden. Irving is a bona fide star in the making. Haters gonna hate.
Ugh... great attitude! I suppose the purpose of the game is to get your 30 points, not winning, right?
