I downloaded an episode of House the other day and received an email today about it from my university, telling me to delete the video immediately and I would basically be in some trouble if I was caught again. So, how do I not get caught again on the school's network? I used eztv.it for this episode. Should I only use private trackers? Should I not seed?
If they already warned you, don't do it again. Isn't that enough? Couldn't you get suspended or put on probation for this?

not that i have a problem w/ illegally downloading stuff, but i sure as heck wouldnt be using my university or work to do it.
Always run PeerGuardian, you can also look into VPN services... however, finding a reputable VPN service isn't easy. Also, change your torrent downloading habits. Do NOT seed. When your torrent is done downloading, remove it immediately. People that get busted are the people seeding. Don't load up your torrent client with 20 downloads and go to sleep. Download WHILE you're using your computer and remove completed downloads immediately. Sure it goes against everything torrents stand for, but you will GREATLY reduce your risk of being flagged. I've downloaded multiple terabytes of torrents in my time following these simple guidelines. With that said, your university could be tracking all torrent traffic on their network... and if they are you are SOL. Have a friend who lives off campus download your shows/movies for you and transfer it to portable hard drives, or take your laptop to their house.
Be careful doing it from your university. I had a friend do the same at UT and she ended up getting sued for over 3K.
I've gotten caught on my university's network too. I had to meet with the dean and take an ethics course. On the way to the dean's office I get pulled over on my bicycle for turning right through a stop sign. I end up late, and upon entry to the meeting the dean points out the window and says 'was that you out there who just got a ticket?' FML bro story not cool. Consider yourself lucky and don't do it again because consequences will never be the same.
LOL woow, my friends JUST told me that he was suspended for 2 weeks without internet because he was downloading stuff off limewire
