I know, I know, if Francis stayed in, we would have won. But, I think that it was Cato, and his no-hustling ass self that set the tone early. I mean, at the outset (the first minutes of the first quarter), you could see the Kings would go straight to the basket and score at ease. Then you see Cato there at the same place and time, but doing jack-squat, not even attempting to jump!?!. What the hell kind of center just stays there and lets people go by him, especially a playoff-type atmosphere like this??? Even Hakeem, with broken legs and all would have at least tried jumping to get some shots changed. Cato is a waste, and I wish he never showed Rudy that 12 block game in preaseason a year ago because I already gave up on his LAZY butt. Too bad Rockets are stuck with someone with a FAT check who plays like a FAT ass. When the playoffs start, Rockets better start anyone other that Cato who gives a damn.

Too many reasons for this loss to cite one in particular.

When a team shoots 60+ percent against you, yeah, I think the defense was a problem. But it wasn't just Cato.

That's Cato for you. He can play balls out defense one game or only get 4 pts 2 rbs like he did against the Kings. He is as inconsistent as they come and the Rockets should trade him in the offseason if they have the chance.

Cato and Bucks pick for Croshere.
-I would rather have an overpriced player that gives effort than one that doesn't.

This is garbage. I complain about Cato when he does something wrong, but saying he set the tone for this loss is BS. Everybody on the floor was hitting for the Kings, was he supposed to guard everybody on the floor? Some of these weak excuses for the loss is sad. One player set the tone for a loss!? Not our franchise player getting tossed, no, our center caused us to lose in the opening minutes of the game. Right.

    Exactly, RocksMillenium!

The Rockets as a whole just didn't come out ready to play!

IMO, defensive effort equals competitiveness. If a team is at least putting out a decent defensive effort, then that team is ready to compete. Simple as that! And yes, there are teams who don't play any defense (last year's Bucks, for example) and yet win, but 90% of the time those teams are winning because of their talent level. When they play a team of equal talent, more often than not they are going to be run off the floor. And it's because they are talented but not competitive.

So as much as I dream of Cato playing in another city, I must admit that he is not alone in the blame.

The Rockets sleep-walked through the 1st, the Kings compounded the problem with some hot shooting, and got in a hole so huge they couldn't dig their way out, though they came close on a couple of occassions.

I didn't see the game so I can't comment on the poor play of the Rockets. I'll take your word on it.

The Kings shot 89.5% from the field in the first quarter. No team, even Dream Team I, would be able to keep up with the Kings in the first quarter.

Was it poor defense or a fluke in the first quarter? I'm taking fluke. Rockets just were in an unlucky situation...lets just be thankful the odds of something like that repeating itself is very low.

Smokey's right. The Kings have some shooters and they hit on all cylinders in the first. (I don't remember Cato covering any of those 3-pt shooters).

I don't like to see one player ever blamed for a loss, although I feel comfortable blaming one ref [IMG] . That is destructive, not constructive.

Cato is not the only one to blame for the loss. However he did come out and give a lackluster performance again. Even Calvin and Bill were talking about his lack of effort.

I dont agree that he was the whole reason our defense sucked....but it was definitely a contributing factor. He was playing real lazy...standing around...walking slow. I am dissapointed in him too....so I know how Rudy must feel.

Cato DID set the tone early. Murphy even complained about Kelvin saying "how can he just let Williams go to the hole like that? He needs to act like a big man." That aside, the Kings were UNREAL. I swear if they had those same shots with no defense on them, they couldn't duplicate that performance.
