Hi, all. Great site you've got here.

I'm wondering that now that Olajuwon is gone, is Cato ready to step it up and assume the starting center role? Maybe he was holding back or was unmotivated because he knew Olajuwon would always be "the man".

Now that that obstacle has been cleared, do you think he can produce?

The only limitations place on Cato are the ones he created. He has the physical tools to avg. a double/double , but mentally he can not handle the position. Cato has no clue  and it makes me  . The :( thing is he is probably in the top 10 for CENTERS in the NBA.

don't get me wrong, I'm no Cato fan. Not by any strtch of the imagination, but...
He is all we've got. It doesn't look like anybody else is coming (until september maybe).
I think if Cato is forced to play 35 or 40 minutes a night, he'll start to put up at least some defensive numbers. With the addition of Rice, we've got plenty of scorers. I'm expecting a breakout year for him. He should be able to get at least a few points off of under the basket dunks. I'm counting on him to average around 4 rebounds a night. Looking at other starting centers, it could be worse. Not much worse, but worse. If yer reading this Kelvin, dont make me feel stupid for predicting 4 rebounds. C'mon, I know ya can do it big fella

He's definitely on one top ten list and it isn't the top 10 NBA centers list.

Hey Square Pants, I don't think Hakeem being here had that much to do with Cato not stepping up. I've reserved myself to not giving a damn about Cato. If he produces, yipee, if not, no big surprise...

It is clear to me that Cato will lead the league in rebounding again. There is little doubt. ;)

If our starting center averages 4 rebounds a game we are a lottery team for sure.

I don't think that Cato will be able to survive mentally if he continues to show the same work ethic that he's had since he's been here. At some point, Wink and Cat are gonna get sick of his crap (if they're not already) and hopefully give him a blanket party (a la Full Metal Jacket).

Something's gotta give....somewhere KC's gotta realize that he can be such a contributor, and with the lack of quality big men in the league, he doesn't even have to be THAT overpowering. How hard is it for someone that size to avg. 10 boards? THAT'S IT! Just 10 boards!! Blocks are great but optional at this point!!

    Okay....thanks for letting me vent....

Seeing as only 10 guys averaged 10 or more rebounds from any position, I would say it is not that easy.

The top ten actually represents three positions, so that is 10 out of 87 starters at a frontcourt position averaged 10 or more...this also equals 11%.

If reduced to just PF/C positions, it is 8 out of 58, or 13.7%

If limited to centers, it is 3 of 29 (even though he is a PF, A. Davis played center) for a whopping 10% of all starting centers.
