Damn...this is the Kelvin Cato we have been dreaming about.

15 rebounds and 13 points, great defense. He finally played what he is worth.

If he can continue this type of play, we are going to have to go out and search for the real Cato.:p

Seriously, he was a big reason, MAYBE the biggest reason we won this game. I knew he could do it...he just had to believe in himself.

I agree wit everything u say. I think it was Stevie that brought the real Cato out of his cage. Stevies fast type of play and leadership has brought out the real Cato. Also, the rest of the Rockets since they all play the fast play. I love him because he wants to stay in Houston no matter what and that is another reason for his contributing.

Now, 99% of us(including myself) wrote Cato off as a piece of **** from the beginning. I wanna see nobody hopping on the Cato bandwagon.

I'd still rather have... anyone else.

No T.V., No radio, No Yahoo Sports (down), FOR ME! I barely got the score, but great to hear about Cato. He has symbolized the frustration of this season: potential, few outcomes. BUT, recently he is starting to put up consistent numbers instead a decent game followed by many "missing in action" games. I am still skeptical, but his recent play is encouraging. You are right, if he becomes consistent the team will greatly benefit.

BTM, that won't happen, believe me. Cato needs a miracle to win over the fans of this little web site. His piece of **** worth is only surpassed by the albertoss that is scotty long nose.

Four double-doubles in the last five games.....dang Cato. Not that I think he suddenly deserves all that money we are paying him, but what a great improvement. Atta kid.

He's gotten better lately. I think it's been partially that he's being much more controlled out there. He's playing smart basketball.

As Calvin mentioned in the first quarter, the Francis-to-Cato lob has become a go-to play.

ESPN's boxscores are messed up. When there are more than just three or four games at the same time, ESPN's machines don't seem to be able to handle the load . It bothers me a lot because it also affects their fantasy basketball boxscores and as a paying user, I would expect them to fix that problem that they have been having all season already.

Cato's line goes as follows:

KELVIN CATO C 43min 6-10fg 0-0threes 1-2ft 8off reb 7def reb 15total reb 1ast 5pf 2st 2to 2bl 13pts

Oh, and by the way, let's trade him while his value might be what could be considered relatively high for his standards... I'd still rather have ANYBODY else as well...

Det----exactly!!!! Trade, trade, trade. Keep it up Cato. Just long enough to sucker someone into thinking you're going do play like this ALL the time now.

If only he would play/stay like this and make us all eat crow.:)
Hey I can dream,can't I?

I said it a long time ago, even when Cato produces, the people on this board won't be satisfied. All those smartasses on the board who think we should ship Cato out, show me a deal where we get a better C, and that the other team and the Rockets would approve of.

Honest to God, and may lightning strike me if I'm wrong, if Cato had a triple doube this next game, people would want him to be traded because his trade value is up.

Great game again Cato, keep it up. I'm sure you'll continue to improve as you've finally arrived at midseason shape.

I have always wished that Cato would kick it into gear. Most of us have. But, what we've been betrayed by, is not his ability, nor his inability, but his availability. Cato could be incredible, and most of us believe that. But its all about motivation and concentration for him. Once he got his money, he just got indulgent, and has come off as a spoiled immature brat. And then, anytime it looked like he might be traded, he played worse, making it harder to trade him, probably causing the staff to lose confidence in him.

This time, at least he's playing better at trade time, and he's probably being given support by the coaching staff. Perhaps that makes him feel wanted, even though he hears his name in the trade rumors. If he doesn't get traded, and he quits playing well, most of us won't trust him again, since it'll be obvious he's playing well, so he doesn't get traded. So we'll all watch. I hope he matures and becomes the player we all know he can be. It's really all about character.

He only has to look around to the guy throwing him the ball to see an example of someone who brings it every game. Cato, whether you please anyone or not does not determine if you are great or not. if you're going to become great in this league, you've got to decide to do what Stevie does, and focus on every single game to be your best, no matter what anyone says. And eventually, everyone will salute you. It won't happen the other way around.

CATO!!!! enough said. Nobody wants to give him a chance or admit they were wrong. I have been tracking his double - doubles. He is just starting to swat some shots. I hope he keeps it up.

I want Cato to stay. Call me crazy but i think he can be a really good back-up for this team. If we can get a better starter and him coming off the bench, that wouldnt be bad. He might be one of the better bench centers in the league.

Check this out, I was checking my Fantasy Team for the week and Cato has been puting up Antonio Davis like numbers:

FG% FT% PTS REB AST STL BLK TO
C Davis, Antonio (FC-Tor) .484 .960 54 30 10 4 2 3
C Cato, Kelvin (C-Hou) .621 .615 44 45 2 7 8 7

Those are some impressive numbers.

EGRULES, bench player?

You're missing the entire point aren't you? The only reason Cato\s playing well is because he's starting. We have our C now. I'm hoping Mo Taylor plays injury-free, improves his rebounding slightly so he and the Rockets can benefit from possibly trading him and our draft pick for Rashard Lewis.

Sane and Sherlock:

Great posts...I agree, 100%. Yea, it is pretty amazing how people react around here when Cato has had a couple of good games. I was someone who at the beginning had my doubts that he would ever do anything, but several double doubles in the last couple of games has shown to everyone here that the guy is playing the best basketball of his life.

I believe a lot of it has to do with Kevin Willis's influence plus the faith of Francis and Mobley. Also, don't underestimate the impact that Glen Rice has had on Cato as well.

And we definitely don't need to bring Cato off the bench! Whoever said that doesn't realize that he is a head case & not starting would cause him to revert back into a fetal position.

Is Cato one of the best centers in the league? No, he is not, but we all said at the beginning of the season that if he could give us close to a double double and play good defense every game like maybe 6 to 8 points and 6 to 8 rebounds a game, we would be happy. Remember, we don't need him to be the focal point of the offense...we just need him to do the things that all good junk players do. Well, he has been exceeding those expectations & some of you are still not satisfied.

I guarantee you that there are teams out there that wish they were getting that type of production from their C spot like Toronto, Phoenix, LA Clippers, Minnesota, etc.
