Okay, I just heard on Fox News that Cato may be out for the entire year. The team doctor was saying that Cato will have another examination on Monday to determine if he will need surgery or just rest and a cast. If he does need surgery then we'll be Cato-less in 2000 - 2001. ------------------ "I have a DREAM.........his name's Hakeem." Lets all pray for him not to be out the whole year. DO YOU GUYS WANT TO SEE COLLIER FOR the whole year? ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. With the pieces they already have in place and myself, we can do some amazing things next season." Maurice Taylor
Hmm.... the Chronicle Rockets summary says: The Rockets on Friday received about the best news they could have hoped for regarding Thursday's sprained left ankles. The MRI performed on Kelvin Cato's high ankle sprain did not show further damage, although Cato will be re-evaluated Monday. But doesn't mention further testing on Monday .... lets hope he's not out the entire season. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Did Mark Berman report the news? He is usually right on everything. ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. I guess you guys didn't read the part where I said I watched an interview with the team doctor. I'm hoping this is not true. In fact, the doctor didn't say Cato was definitely going to miss the rest of the year, just that if he needs surgery then he will. ------------------ "I have a DREAM.........his name's Hakeem." I don't think I've ever seen someone so injury prone. Well... maybe Brent Price! Cato could sprain his ankle during a space walk. ------------------ "Somebody DO something out there." -Bill Walton
Thanks for the update Clutch. What more definitive test there could be than an MRI? We can only hope that Cato heals quickly and isn't going to miss the entire season. He was playing some nice defense for us! ------------------ Be you Democrat or Republican, vote "YES" for the Arena Referendum!
Damn, they don't make em like they use to. You know, Lou Holtz had a great way to motivate his players thru injuries. I can hear him now: "You think a dog would be unwilling to do his job after a sissy sprained ankle!, hell a dog could have a damn torn ACL in all four legs and it would be nothing. The dog would still prance aroun and do what he is suppose to do!" Now in no fashion or form am I calling Cato a dog, but you see the idea these guys are suppose to be warriors. You mean to tell me a friggin sprained ankle is gonna cost the whole season. I'm sorry but maybe we need sweet Lou to be on the staff to get the guys going whenever they go through these sissy injuries. ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
From what I've heard it has something to do with the ligament or tendon (I'm not a doctor!) that has come off of the bone...if it can't heal naturally it would have to be surgically repaired and that is what would keep him out for the year. They are going to run some stress tests on it Monday. Old School ------------------ I voted YES! [This message has been edited by Old School (edited November 04, 2000).]
I'm sure you've probably called into work with a stuffy nose at one point too. If Cato does in fact have damaged tendons or ligaments, then he'd be very, very stupid to continue playing as it would be a risk to the rest of his career. I seriously doubt anyone else on this board would do the same. ------------------ "Priorities is our values"-Dubya at campaign stop in San Jose on 11/1/00 visit www.swirve.com
What about Venson Hamilton? He was very good in college, I would like to see him play. ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be.
