I've got a feeling that Badiane will explode this summer pro league..If this happens, is there a possibility we can now trade Cato for a good backup PG or SG ?

I actually think that Cato is probably the best backup center in the league - at least top 3.

I don't want to give him up and place back-up duties on an unproven rookie.

I'd be fine with Collier being the back up at center. Yea, I just said that. I want cato, taylor, and moochie out of houston now.

We definitely need Cato right now and he has developed great chemistry with Steve but if the right deal came along I'm sure the Rockets wouldn't hesitate. However I doubt the Rockets will trade him for a backup 2 or 3. Most likely if a deal is made he will be one of the peices in a deal for someone like Brand or Jermaine O'Neal.

Geez. Now Badiane is taking Cato's job??? I thought he was taking Eggie and Mo Taylor's job???

    I am confused.

At the risk of stating the obvious -- Cato may be a good back-up center but the problem is that he is paid a starter's salary.

The 44th pick can play SF, PF and C -- all at the same time!

Will the board ever come back to earth? The Rocks picked up a decent prospct in Badiane, but let's not promote him to messiah before the season starts.

I agree with thumbs. Remember waht happened last time we drafted a 19 year old and everyone thought he was the savior. Now, everyone wants EG out of town.

Let's give Badiane some time, word is he may stay in Europe for one more year to refine his skills. If that is the case, there is no way we can lose Cato. If Collier became our back up center, that would flat out suck.

Replacing Cato with Badiane would be a huge mistake. Cato's one of the best backup C's in the league. Badiane is a pf at 6'10'' 230 lbs.... and a rookie. Not a good move to consider. Oh, and screw Collier.

I can't believe I read this. I've got a gut feeling that some posters in this BBS are out of their minds.

Badaine will be overseas for one, maybe two more years.

Collier will be out of work in one, maybe two more years.

Cato will be our backup center for one, maybe two more years.

    Get used to it people.

I would rather have Cato, forming the best Center combination in the league(that I can think of off the top of my head)... Someone tell me of a better backup center. And I don't care that he gets paid 7$ per season. Its a very important position- especially with Yao being only 22. I say we let his contract run out(unless we get an outstanding trade offer), because by that time, Yao will be entering his prime, or very close.

I too hope that Badiane explodes during the Summer Leagues and makes the Team. [He might be the Big Splaaaaaash that Les was talking about] We dont need him at the Center position, but we do need him at the PF or SmF position. Yao Ming wont be mature for a couple of seasons so we must keep Cato. Either Mo T. or EG. could be the expendable player.

he'll be in europe for another year or two. He's very raw and he won't be the so called "Big Splash" les was talking about.

Out of sight, out of mind as far as I'm concerned.
