Cato is gonna be traded that's why. I have a feeling the rockets are talking with another team. A trade might occur. Just wait and see

Who wants him, and how much are they willing to give up for him?

So far he's played pretty well, and his grandmother died last week, so he's probably still feeling that pain. Give him some time.

What could N.Y. give the Rockets that we want other than an unconditional first round draft choice? They won't do that, especially considering their payroll. If there is a trade, I'll bet it will be with a Florida team -- probably the Magic because, if I recall, they still have a surfeit of first round draft choices. That said, I doubt they will trade Cato. We need him too much to back up Yao Ming in his "transition" stage.

agreed, YM isnt ready to man the center by himself..and Eggie isnt big enuff to post often..Cato cant be moved yet..I still feel we need to move him, but not without getting a big body in return..

I dont have a clue why Cato isnt playin more, can he be sooo sensitive that the death in the family is keeping him from focusing on the games? It just doesnt make sense.

I do not understand why we would trade Cato. He could start on a lot of the Eastern Conf teams and he would be the best backup center by far. Ming is not ready to take over and play 38-40 minutes a night.
Why dump Cato and go to Collier. EG doesnt have the size or intensity yet to play center. I think a Ming - Cato 1-2 punch is great down low. But why Rudy is not playing him is stunning.

He's been playing pretty well whenever he's in the game. Hustling, playing aggressive defense, rebounding, and doing all the little things the team needs. I don't understand why he hasn't gotten more playing time. For some reason Rudy thinks Eddie can play the 5, when he's barely strong enough to even play the 4.

I too, would like to keep Cato as a backup for Yao, but what's the point in keping him if Rudy's not going to even use him as the backup. He's just being wasted on the bench.

The Rockets would be dumb to trade Cato UNLESS.... if it was for another big guy such as Fortson, or someone with the like size of Ben Wallace. If we are going to trade Cato then it should be to contend with big centers like Shaq or oversized PF like Duncan.

Trade him for an opened bag of Doritos.

Cato has no place on this team.

I guess everyone forgets that Cato although a good player is grossly overpaid

    I've been wondering this myself.

I hope we don't trade him. There's no way Yao could take on a Shaq beating. Shaq would throw Yao around like a rag doll ... until Yao gets some more upper body strength & conditioning.

I think he needs to start for the Rox! Yao Ming is not a starter yet, at least Yao should still come off the bench!

A 100% Cato, and we would've won one of the last 2 games at least.

We wouldn't have been hammered by Wallace and Sabonis against Portland, and we'd have someone putting up more than 4 points and 7 rebounds.

I guess you forgot that he was averaging 10+ rebounds a game before he left.

We need Cato, unless there's some way to unload him for another BIG man with a short contract. Someone who can play.

I have been wondering about this too. Cato has been sitting a lot after his absence. Granted, Ming is playing a lot better than before Cato left for his grandma's death, but it's not like Ming is taking up a lot of minutes. Why play Griffin (who is clearly struggling) so much at the 5 when you can have Cato in there?

Trading Cato for cap space makes sense. NY can give that. You can smell something's in the air, but maybe that's just Cato.

Please, please also trade Mooch for Charlie Ward and his expiring contract.

And do me a favor and throw in KT for Kurt Thomas.

Charlie Ward is playing better than Moochie, Kurt Thomas makes KT look shameful, and they don't have anything to give in return for Cato. Oh, yes, we DO need someone to play C, Ming is only good for 25 minutes, and Griffin gets overpowered by SF's.

Sane, they can give the injury exception for Cato. Presto, he's off the books, and we can go shopping. I'd be happy with just Kurt Thomas, but Toddie also mentioned Doleac as a possible scrub book balancer. Who cares who? Cato gets some NY love, Mooch gets the starting job, KT gets some love, it's all good. We don't need any of these guys next year, move them now. Play our young guys now, get them some experience. With the cap space, we can make a play for Lamar Odom, or other good FA.
