I saw an interview with Cat on Ch 2 tonight. It was in reference to Wallace's comments about the smackdown they (USA) are gonna lay on Yao. Cat said that is pretty much what Yao can expect in the NBA but that Yao can handle it. He also said they better not hurt Yao because "we need him". Good to see and hear some support from the teammates. os
Cat doesn't want to go out on a limb too far... ...he doesn't want to upset his home-boys that are playing on the US team. Just wait until next year when Cat will think of Yao as one of his team mates instead of just some guy everyone is talking about. It's hard for Cat to defend him since he really doesn't know about him or who to be loyal to.
I didn't get to see it but did it seem like he felt offended of Wallace's comments or was it like...."ooh, everyone knows he's weak inside" and just tried to put up a front to be on Ming's side?
I'm by no means a facial body language expert as many claim to be here ...but it wasn't as if he was offended by Wallace's statement. What he said was pretty much on the mark: any rookie can expect to take a beating his first year. Be he did defend Yao by saying Yao could handle himself and they better not hurt him. os
He should take his teammate over Ben Wallace 8 days a week. There should be no question about who Mobley should root for.
Moochie and Cat were on again during the 10 news. Moochie said he can't wait for Yao to get here so the team can start developing chemistry...also said Yao would make him a better player. Cat pretty much said the same. os
It's like bringing home your girlfriend/fiancee of another culture, and the family doesn't know how to react, or doesn't support the match (I'm speaking from personal experience here); you have to play that game of supporting one side, placating the other, wondering what to say and when to say it. Hopefully the two sides come to appreciate one another and you don't have to dance so much between them.
That is pretty deep stuff ROXTXIA. Hope that worked out and your girl is as good a lover as Yao is a baller. Anyway I agree with DavidS in that once Yao comes to town and becomes friends with everyone on his team he will get much more American support. How can you expect someone to enthusiastically support someone they have never met and seen very little of?
That's hard to do because that's your country competing against Ming and China. That's like saying Michael Finley should take up for Dirk or Nash if the United States players were talking trash to them.
