As I much as I love Mobley and his incredible offensive abilities, I must say that he has been one of the main reasons we have been unsuccessful in 3 of the first 4 games this year. He never fails to take MORE than a few too many UNNECCESSARY shots which should are clearly uncalled for. Rudy needs to address this situation immediately because as much as Mobley helps us down the stretch, he also costs the team games. Three instances this year already: Minnesota (threw the ball away with less than a minute left), Golden State (takes a tough fall away jump shot and bricks, refuses to pass), and last night against Phoenix (fouls Clifford Robinson with 3 seconds on the shot clock - absolutely ludicrous). What do you guys think about this??? Maybe send him to a few crash logic courses or.......

Somehow I think all he brings to the table (including 20+ points per game) can outweigh a mistake here and there. No one is perfect.

Admittly, Mobley has made some mistakes at key points in the game but you also have to realize he was also the reason why the Rockets even had a chance in the losses. Against Minnesota he had 33 points and was the lone offensive (beside Mo) player that could do anything. Against the Clipps he hit a big 3 pointer just to give them a chance at the end of the game to still win and last night he single handly brought the Rockets back within 3 points with a 19 point 4th quarter effort.

How can everyone keep hating on Mobley? Without him, all of those losses could have been with a larger margin.

I do wish Rudy would get the players to run the offense for most of the game and wait until the last 4 or five minutes of the game to then run the ISOs because that is our best play right now since we can't find anyone to dominate in the paint.

OK, so far we have had a few "Mobley hurts us" threads, a "Francis is not a good PG" thread, a few "Maurice Taylor is a disappointment" threads, and one about playing Bullard too much. This all adds to the negativity surrounding Collier (which I think may be warranted) and our less than stellar 1-3 record.

I have to say, we have hit an all time low on this BBS. [IMG]

WE HAVE PLAYED 4 GAMES AND ALREADY WE HAVE LOTTERY THREADS! I love this! This is truly comical.

Where are the real Rocket fans? While there are some things to be disappointed in, I am nowhere near feeling down on our players, coaches, or what the season may hold. There just has not been enough games playe and enough time yet for this team to get the chemistry that will produce wins. There is much to be excited about...and I for one am going to enjoy the season and watch the growth the team experiences as the season wears on.

    PESSIMISTS be gone!

I agree with Hoop-T. We need to chill a little. It has only been 4 games and Dream, Shandon and Mo have not played that much together yet this year with all the injuries and line up changes. This team still has some gelling to do and it is going to take a while. Patience.

Apparently 20 points a game average, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal a game over the first 4 games are not good enough.

I'm not saying I dont like what the guy does for us, but there's no doubt that he needs to shape up when it comes down to the crunch. I agree fully that we have no chance without him, but we have to realize that Mobley is making too many mistakes, granted he's inexperienced, but there's no reason that he can't keep away from doing OBVIOUS things, such as NOT FOULING WITH 3 SECONDS ON THE SHOTCLOCK and not HOGGING THE BALL. Point Made END OF STORY.

i agree with this post. Mobley comes into the game and wants an isolation play for himself every time. Someone please tell him to go baseline, everytime defenders know he's going to the middle. I dont care so much that he's taken it one on one but that he's being an idiot and waiting till there is 7 seconds left on the shotclock to make his move.Plain stupid. Please dont say francis has been playing bad.He and shandon have been playing great.

    Hi everyone, first post [IMG]

Only thing I can say, ALL shots are bad when they don't go in :p and as "bad" as his shot selection is, mobley makes over 50% of his shots. Not many players in the league can shoot better then 50%, so......

    Hoop T,

Yep you are right, we should wait until they are like 5-20 to really start complaining. Come on, get real....are you happy with 1-3...really?

This team has a ton of talent, and heart, but lack experience and teamwork. WIll they get there? Perhaps, but I don't see it this year, in fact, I don't see them being really successful for the next 3-4 years.

No, I am not happy with 1-3.....but I am also a realist. The realist in me says, "Hmmm, there are 78 games left - SEVENTY-EIGHT games." We have played 4. You can complain all you want to, and blame Francis, blame Mobley, blame Taylor.......but it is utterly ludicrous to say LOTTERY already. That is just plain silly. My expectations are not for the playoffs at all, let me just point that out.

What do I expect? Improvement on a 34-48 season is what I expect. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? If you don't expect them to "get there" (wherever there is) for another 3-4 years, then why are you b****ing so much? Sit back and watch them improve and grow until their time approaches.

These guys are young guards....with no veteran GUARDS to teach them the ropes. Yeah Shandon technically is a veteran, but he is just getting his feet wet as a starter. I for one, think Francis and Mobley are light years ahead for what they have had to endure (injuries, a ton of responsibility as rookies, etc.). YES, they make mistakes....but how do you learn if you don't??????????????????????????

Don't sell out after 4 games.
    Bring out the real fans!

the two best players, so far, on this team have been shandon anderson and cuttino mobley. and when the games on the line, it has been cuttino that has had the balls to step up. sometimes you make them, sometimes you don't.

as for the foul on cliff, hmmmm. maybe you weren't noticing the fact that cliff had TORCHED the rox that evening, was 3 feet away from the basket, and only had cuttino to beat for a layup. hmmm. yea, i see where you're coming from. maybe he should have not reached, but gone up and blocked ole 6'10" cliffs layup. yea. i see. [IMG]

as for the isolation thing: we are an isolation team. i've been through this time and time again. when we need clutch baskets, we run iso plays. and they take time to develop. not 15 seconds of dribbling, granted. but 4-7 seconds to let the double team come is rational. remember chuck?

i hope this thread dies soon. it's ludicrous with an "l" as in looney.

Uuuh, when did we play GS? To date (reg season) We've played Milwaukee(W), Minnesota (L) Phoenix (L) and the Clips (L - fu*kin L). When did we play GS? I musta missed something. Aside from that, I agree Mobley takes too many stupid shots. One of those areas he ought to have improved on. Is this a joke?

(When did we play the Warriors? I'm pretty sure we haven't played them yet...)

Ok who is hating now? Mobley had something like 9 points in the 4th quarter. What about that step back 3 pointer? He also was the one to set Matt Bullard for a critical 3 to extend the lead once again. I don't care what anyone says but Mobley is the man and you know what he has heart and is not scared to take the BIG SHOT.

Can he get some props please?
