SF only gets 4 assist, but he scores 37, so that's ok isn't it?

Umm nope, that's not ok )

For most of the game, Steve played SG. Moochie started with the other 2, moving them over. Not to mention no one else could hit a shot.

Steve played a great game. It's tough to collect assists when your teammates can't hit shots.

Who cares about stats except the W-L.

I think he got 39 according to nba.com. Plus his assist turnover ratio is almost 1:1. :)

well moochie was the point guard for most of the game. steve had to do most of the scoring since other than cat no one was hitting.

When we say no one else could hit a shot - we mean - three players we're given an opportunity and couldn't shoot well - Mooch, EG, and Cato. The other guys - we forgot they were on the same team.

It's true. Steve definitely did a bad job of consistenly moving the ball, but just like last year, his teammates bricked the shots everytime he did give it up, making his assists look a lot worse than they should have been.

Yes that's very ok. Steve had assists blown early on in the game by EG, Moochie, EG again, and a couple by Kelvin Cato.

It wasn't because STeve wasn't passing early on. When nobody else could hit the ocean with their shots, Steve took over and started scoring. It would have been far worse if it wasn't for Steve and the game he played.

The guy tried getting others involved.

I also don't think either EG or Yao are ready to be the main man that the offense is run through at this point. They still have much learning to do before either of them is ready to shoulder that kind of load.

I will admit there may have been a few times when Steve didn't move the ball that well, shot too early or whatever, but that came later in the game.

Steve's defense did seem better this year than last year, and early on he was definitely looking to get his teammates involved. But most of the time they weren't up to the task.

So you'd rather he score 21 and get 8 assists. That doesn't add up to the 37 he put in himself. I didn't watch the game so I don't know how it went down, but people have to make shots to get assists. The Rocks had a horrible shooting percentage except for Cat and Steve. I'm sure they could have passed more, but Boki hasn't inspired any confidence and Ming looks like he had some foul issues. With only 9 healthy players, I expect Steve and Cat to dominate the offense. If Griff made some shots, I think this would have been a different game.

Griffin is becoming a liability offensively and shooting % is terrible. This was the problem tonight. He has so many opps to score big time and missed open jumpers every quarter. Steve and Cat gave him the ball and he floundered! He has no touch around the basket. He is awesome defensively, but man....the guy is killing us. The difference in this game is that no one couldhit but Steve and Cat.

No one to play SF, so they had to move everyone over. Boki could have started, but they chose the 3 guard lineup.

Ok Steve took entirely too many shots. 28 shots for anybody in this league is too much. Half of his shots were ridiculous. 39 points and they still lost. What does that mean? Pass the damn ball.

This game was poorly played. However, since they're about 5 guys short, this loss was "excusable." But once guys start coming back, there sure as hell better be some improvement.

And Eddie needs to get his offensive game together.

He went to make a big slam in traffic, sort of, and missed. He fell to the floor on his hip and left for a little bit. He came back and was ok.

I saw what looked like the 5-man offense on the VERY FIRST PLAY of the game, and from that point on they didn't try it again.

If Steve tried to get people involved, he didn't try for very long. The way to get guys going is to get them an easy shot, and try to get a rythm going.

Well actually it does add up to the same.

    21 + (8x2) = 37

But he scored 39 anyway - and he didn't start at PG. Most teams would be happy for their SG to score 39 and crank out 4 assists along the way.

Good thing we have the mighty Nuggets next up!

    Get well fellas

It all comes down to the first quarter. Steve was passing the ball, on the break, hitting the open man time and time again. His teammates didn't score, and blew open shots that Steve gave them.

Steve did take some ill-advised shots. I'll be the first to admit that, but this loss isn't his fault. And it's not like he didn't try passing at the start of the game.

The problem is that right now Steve is still the best scoring option on this team.

Who the hell else was supposed to take shots? Ming didn't get many minutes, Boki has yet to prove himself, why should they trust him with the ball? Griffin had 11 shots and he bricked 10 of them. Did Collier need more shots? Should Mickeal have gotten more shots? I don't mind steve taking 28 shots if he's going to nearly drop 40 points. A .46% shooting night isn't bad for a guard.

Steve scored 39. And how can you expect him to have more assists when no one can hit a shot other then him and Cat?
