Well, we could have drafted him with the pick that we traded in the Artest trade. I think we should go after him especially since Morey has a great relationship with Geoff Petrie.

why do we need him with budinger, trevor and battier? Even if one of those is traded we wouldnt have room for Casspi.

Its called Francisco Garcia came back after the All Star break and ate into your minutes, Casspi.

Do the Rockets even have any similar level assets to get Casspi? I see the Rockets just combining their assets together for 1 big premium player acquisition, not dealing them individually. Hill or Budinger for Casspi are workable deals on paper, but no way the Rockets do that. Not trading any draft picks for him either. Rockets have fleeced enough from the Kings anyway.

Casspi + Jason Thompson or something, then we'll talk.

True, the Kings probably are sick of dealing with us.

I disagree I think we do have room for him, Budinger could easily be moved to the backup SG position, while Casspi can play back up SF...

    SG: Martin | Budinger
    SF: Ariza | Casspi

Allowing us to trade Battier & Taylor in the draft to move up or in a sign-and-trade...

Casspi can play both forward positions. Provide some D and threes at PF. Adelman has said he likes players that can play both SF & PF.

If the Kings are happy to rollout a League minimum payroll next season. They're second last in attendance this season and their financial troubles have been well noted by the media. Anyhow, they could easily take on Jeffries or be a 3rd team in a trade that would allow the Rockets to salary dump and stay under the tax.

$3M + Jeffries + rights to Eliyahu/draft pick FOR Casspi (Kings under the cap)

Naw, Jeffries contract is valuable in the offseason for someone better or at the deadline.

I dont know, maybe they arent. As long as they get something they want. They'd love to do a Casspi for Yao Ming trade :)

I'm saying all the deals you could do with the Kings that actually benefit both clubs are about done. The only kinds of deals left with the Kings that involve Casspi are -

    Aaron Brooks for Casspi (NO).
Chuck Hayes for Casspi/Thompson. Kings wont do that.
Jeffries for Casspi/Nocioni. Maaaybe but I doubt the Rockets want Nocioni's contract.
Battier for Casspi/Udrih. Rockets dont need Beno.

And like you said with Jeffries contract, same for Battier.

But why would you waste time and most probably assets for Cassipi? He's a good rookie but as others already noted he's practically identical to Buddinger. Sure Cassipi can play backup PF and Bud can play backup SG, but we already have Lowry and Taylor at the backup SG slot, and putting Cassipi into the backup PF would eat into Hill's minutes. I'd rather we direct our energy and assets to significantly upgrading our rotation, and not acquiring similar level players.

They're not alike at all. Budinger's a finesse/jump shooter while Casspi is more grit, hustle, and slashing.

Technically you could do that, but why waste assets to get casspi, give him a limited role, and further limit bud's role by backing up martin, who needs to be on the floor 30-35 mins a night? Salary-wise it's fine, since casspi makes less than 3 mill for at least 3 more yrs...but i think a move like that will stunt the growth of Budinger and limit both of their roles, making them underused.

You could cut Martin's minutes back, but why? He's effective offensively and the guy makes 10 mill a year, he needs to be out there.

Are they different enough to warrant getting him here? Grit and Hustle aren't even "game", if he wants to C-Bud can grit his teeth and hustle as much as Cassipi does.

I'd give them one of our future picks for Casspi, but thats where the line stops.

I forgot about JT. Ok, make that JT + a pick, if a pick isn't good enough.

Hah, like I said making the 20-5-5 stuff a focus for the season is a stupid idea. You basically tell the rest of your guys winning is not important as long as Evans gets his.

I can see how Casspi (and Martin) get a bit disgruntled.

Maybe they can trade him to NY. It's always good to have "ethnic appeal" to sell tickets.
