He probably won't get even a whiff of it but he definately has had a major impact everywhere he has gone Rocket River
no, although the answer shouldn't be as clear cut as one would think. Absolute team changer and clutch. He just wasn't good enough to be the best at his position although very good for a very long while. He's probably been the worst elite pg for the last 10 years. Or best 2nd tier pg, however u look at it. I hope he garners some votes though, because he made KG aka the kid (what a stupid nickname) an mvp.
Sam was 2nd in the league in assists when JKidd was leading. Sam was a better scoring and clutch performer. If Sam wins another ring, then he should be guaranteed a spot.
I think voters will not hold his previous 2 championships in high regard as far as weighing the chance he gets in.
Sam had a very nice career, and he's certainly playing even better as he aged. But he's not close to being a HOF. I grant you he was consistently very good for a long time, but he was never among the best in the league in all but one year(his all-star appearance with the Wolves). Unless he goes into a Barry Bonds-like aging trend, I don't think I can see him as a candidate even with my bias.
thats the problem with voters. people love to hate on those 2 championships. Sports Illustrated didnt want the Rockets to beat the Knicks. The NBA didn't want a sweep against the Magic. Its all about money.
What is the question? Is Cassell a Howard Only Fan? Why would he be, unless the glasses were for him?
He has never even been an all-star. Sammy rules, but Horry would make make it in first and that won't hapen too.
Cassell may not be a HOF candidate but Clutch the bear might! "The Rockets Bear" This year’s entrants in the Mascot Hall of Fame will be named shortly and Houston’s own “Clutch, the Rockets Bear” is among those being considered. The 2004-05 NBA Mascot of the Year is getting support from all over. Some of Houston’s best have shown Clutch their support by writing letters of recommendation on his behalf. Mayor Bill White and legendary sports writer John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, are just two of the people that took time to show their support for Clutch. You can check out their letters of recommendation below and check back to Rockets.com to see if Clutch is headed for the hall. http://www.nba.com/rockets/clutch/Clutchrsquos_Testimonials-178879-822.html
I think he made an all-star team a few years ago. He may not make it in as a player, but it looks like he's got a lot of potential to be a great coach.
Meowgi, I hope you never become a lawyer. Career Highlights # 2003-04 All-Interview Team # 2003-04 Second-Team All-NBA # First-time All-Star in 2004 # Named Western Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 29, his third career weekly award # Won back-to-back World Championships in each of his first two seasons with Houston (’94, ‘95) # Won the Fleer Shootaround at Jam Session during 2001 All-Star Weekend Up | Down Head-to-Head Comparison
I think he can make it, seriously hes got the statistic and hes been a difference maker everywhere hes been. I dont see why he shouldnt make it.
Add another CLUTCH shot for cassell in the playoffs. Where are all the CLUTCH shots for Jason Kidd? Cassell > Kidd
Seems there needs to be a stat for INTANGIBLES sort of a Tie goes to the Runner thing because Horry and Cassell both got them . . if not the stats Rocket River
Hey, I love E.T. as much as anybody, but it's not the "Hall Of Good": it's the Hall Of Fame. These are supposed to be all-time greats, not just very good players, and I don't think Sam-I-Am fits the bill.
