http://www.startribune.com/stories/511/5566051.html Last bullet of the article is where this is mentioned: "• Cassell said he expects former backcourt mate Latrell Sprewell to sign with Houston, although Detroit, Miami and Denver are still interested." I guess Detroit's push for Finley has Spree thinking differently, as well.
I agree. I'd much rather have Finley or Anderson, but Sprewell wouldn't hurt the team. I wouldn't be too happy about rooting for him, but I'm sure I'll get over it.
eh, I guess I can live with Spree. I'd rather go a different direction mostly because he cant shoot 3's, which would have been a very valuable asset. Thats why Finley would be a much better choice.
Spree for the LLE would be a steal. He isn't the same player he use to be but he is still a reliable 3rd scoring option. He's got the size we need in our backcourt. I don't think Spree would be any kind of problem at all. I think he respects JVG enough to play the team game and make it work, just like in NY.
Am I the only person here who thinks that we shouldn't add a player just for the sake of adding a player? Unless we're getting a definite upgrade (and if you've seen the way Spree has declined, he isn't one) I don't want to crowd the rotation and add a potentional chemistry problem. I know that a lot of people want to see a new face on the team, especially one with the name recognition of Latrell Sprewell... But I just think that with Spree, it's a matter of the best possible move being one that we don't make, even if it's just for LLE. I don't think he'll help us.
If we sign Spree, our all 90's team is compelete. Deke, Howard, Spree, D.Wes, Sura. Dream squad in the mid 90's
Since Wesley averaged more minutes than his age last season, we clearly need to add somebody to spell him of those minutes. Somebody taller would be preferable. Enter...Spree.
i really don't want sprewell on the team. he may be cheap, but the thing is, he's a risk at causing chemistry problems. anybody remember portland? also, at this point, he isn't good enough to take that risk. maybe 4 or 5 years ago. we don't need another old knick malconent.
