Honestly this guy has shot up the charts with his recent performances.

I am a big fan and he solves the "BPA vs. Need" debate we have been having since he is probably going to be the BPA in the entire draft after Sullinger and Irving.

Attributes that convince me he is a potential franchise player:
    1. He is a long above average defender

    2. He understands moving without the ball and understands the game

    3. Clutch

    4. After he started understanding how to play in college(NC State game) his stat line was:
    PPG: 19.67
    RPG: 6.67
    APG: 1.4
    SPG: 0.7

Remember that he is a freshman on UNC that has many scorers. We will probably have to move up to get him, but I think it is a worthy risk.

The Rockets will most definitely have to move up to get Barnes... and it would be well worth it, IMO. I watched him drop 40 on Clemson last week during the ACC tourney, and he also put a few teams to sleep during regular season play with 4th quarter game-winners. He's got ice water running through his veins.

There's a reason he's the only freshman to have ever been billed a preseason 1st-team AA... he'll be a force in the league, no doubt.

Could we see a draft day trade to get Barnes?

One can only hope.. I ran into a drunk Carolina fan at the Vegas sportsbook tonight. He told me that his aunt is on the board of directors for Carolina.. rumor is Henson is gone, Barnes is staying. Take that for the big grain of salt that it is.

    Go heels.

If you check Harrison Barnes' advanced stats, you see that his unassisted shot % is still as low as his preseason slump %.

His overhyped athleticism and point forward skills have been exposed at a college level.

    Best case: Paul Pierce-lite
    Most likely: Iggy

Barnes can't touch any of the TMac or Durant comparisons.

I'll take a PP lite or Iggy. It's way better than Bud or T-Will.

True, but he still seems to have a lot of promise. I need to watch him a couple of more times.

We are not getting Barnes. The Cavs who have 2 high draft picks and the best chance to win the lottery has said they hope that Ivring and Barnes comes out so they can draft him.

Some websites are comparing him to Deng.

Given that saying that would be considered a clear cut case of tampering, I am quite sure the Cavs have not said that.

He's playing like he was supposed to from the beginning... so that's good.

He doesn't have superior handles and isn't other-worldly athletic either. Luol Deng is a great comparison. I think he has bust written all over him.

    Hi haters...

I actually thought of a Deng-Barnes comparison the other day. They seem to both be solid defenders, but Harrison s a much better shooter from downtown than Luol was/is. I'm not sure just how good he'll be.. but I think it's pretty obvious he WILL be good.

I agree, but players that we are looking for to be our franchise corner stone cannot be that polished since they will obviously be picked #1 overall.

We will have to trade up for him. Here is how I hope draft day works out.

Trade Scola and Twill for Draft Rights to Barnes (or Sullinger whichever team bites) and a role player from trade partner (Ed Davis? from Toronto)

Draft Trey Thompkins with Orlando's pick (I have a feeling he will drop)

    Post Draft Roster with Barnes:

    PG: Lowry/Dragon
    SG: Kmart/Lee
    SF: Barnes/Cbud
    PF: PPat/Thompkins
    C: Hayes or Davis?/Thabeet

Been watching him, like his potential....but he just screams raw to me. He's getting by on instincts and athleticism, and that spells disaster at the next level. Getting away with a lot that he won't in the NBA. I had the same issues with Adam Morrison.

If he stays another year and starts settling on some set moves and increases his team game awareness, he'll be a franchise guy.

Figuring it out on a god awful Cavs team with tons of pressure on him could kill his career.

I hate same team comparisons, but it does remind me of Marvin Williams as well.

Surely you guys can do better than comparing him to Marvin just because both went to the same school. To me, he looks like another Paul Pierce. As far as just getting by on athleticism, watch him closer; he's a great shooter and even better in the clutch. In fact, the only reason that I've jumped on his bandwagon is because of how clutch he's proven to be this year.

There's a good video of his strengths/weaknesses on DraftExpress, but I can't embed it here. In case anyone has time to waste checking it out: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Draft-Prospect-of-the-Week-Harrison-Barnes-3648/

I don't know. Paul Pierce was pretty athletic back in day, something Barnes is not. I think Marvin Williams is a good comparison, same college team or not.

I'm not sure where this "he get by with athleticism" came from. Instincts I can agree with, but Barnes isn't athletic at all. He's got a high basketball IQ and solid fundamentals, but he already struggles to get by his man because he's so limited from an athletic standpoint.
Yeah, he's a decent shooter and not afraid in the clutch, but is that enough for you to take him in the top5? Top10?
I guess it might be in this year's draft, but I'm just not sold on the guy.

And oh, there's always a way to embed videos ;).
