The Simpsons is, of coarse, the Big Dog, and my obvious first choice prior to the last 5 or 6 seasons of South Park, which have become more relevant and mature, than the first 5 or 6 seasons. I can't wait for the new season of South Park, which inspired this poll, so here's how I rank them:

    South Park
    The Simpsons
    King Of The Hill
    Futurama
    Family Guy
    American Dad

Maybe I'm just a gay fish at heart, but I put S.P. #1, cast your vote and weigh in, and add your pick if I missed one. The show has to be a cartoon and 30 minutes in length to satisfy the criteria of this pole.

what this poll is terrible IMO

if we are talking about just the last season or the entire series as a whole?

I mean you are taking the last 5-6 years of the Simpsons and comparing it to the last 5-6 years of South Park which isnt a fair comparison. Need to be less vague to your question and reasoning.

Need to have some sort of explanation because if its a series as a whole The Simpsons is by far and away the best cartoon ever season 3-9 are just non stop awesome episodes.

    Right now (new episode)
    1) King of the Hille: easily the most consistent of any of these imo
    2) Futurama: not a huge fan but has not turned into complete crap like these other have.
    3) Family Guy: A shell of it's former self, but an occasional decent episode.
    4) The Simpsons: Never that funny of a show but semi-watchable right now
    5) South Park: the last 4-5 season have been complete garbage, some of the worst stuff on tv.
    6) American Dad: Always just stupid

    All-time (through the entire series)
    1) South Park: Seasons 2-9 are significantly more clever, smarter, and better written than current crap south Park. The old stuff is some of the funniest stuff ever on TV
    2) King of the Hill: Like I said, the most consistent show. Smart and clever, very underrated, a personal favorite.
    3) Family Guy: before they came back from cancellation, the show was gold, some of the most lol stuff on tv.
    4) The Simpsons: More about story than humor imo. Never a lol show, but good character development.
    5) Futurama: An ok show, nothing special for me, but has been pretty consistent.
    6) American Dad: fails, just a terrible show.

Sorry, I meant imop that S.P., the last 5 or 6 seasons, has surpassed The Simpsons as my ALLTIME favorite. This IS an ALLTIME poll, sorry I didn't make it clearer.

The last 5-6 season of SP is nothing compared to what is used to be. The show is about nothing but shock value now.

The Venture Bros. is the only cartoon that matters.

(I like American Dad a great deal...)

This happens all the time. Somebody starts a thread with a poll, the thread goes up first, and before the poll goes up you get posts wondering where it is.

Why is that? I've never noticed a delay when posting threads with polls.

    But, for the topic:

If we're talking all time, then Simpsons by far. It took until this past season for me to find an episode that I didn't laugh at three or four times minimum.

If we're talking what show I like the most currently, then Futurama definitely. The only drawback is there aren't enough episodes to where I can watch it on a consistent basis without being able to recite every word.

Family Guy's pretty good, but it's steadily getting worse. Pre-cancellation shows are awesome; post-cancellation started out good but slowly lost it and are getting annoying recently. I'm worried Futurama will take this turn when it comes back next season.

South Park was really good around the time the movie came out. Then they started making political statements and pure pop culture parody shows - I totally gave up a few years ago.

KOTH has always been fairly funny, but never much more than that. At least it didn't get annoying like SP/FG have.

American Dad is just a crappier Family Guy.

I think the show has always been about "shock value", and I'm not saying the first 5 or 6 seasons weren't good, but I like how they destroy people and especially Scientology in the new seasons.

Like how Bart has been 10, Lisa 8 and Maggie a baby for 20 years now.

not really, now the kids just cuss all the time and every episode has outrageous plots. Before the kids were naive and well, kidlike. Now it's like they are adults in children's bodies. No subtly anymore. Now it's just about pop culture and celebs. It is really disappointing after how fantastic the show started.

I don't think anything can top The Simpsons Seasons 4-10. Outside of those seasons, though...this would be my order

    Heavyweights:
    Simpsons (4-10)
South Park (thought last couple of seasons have been "meh")

    Middleweights:
    Futurama (pre-movies)
    Family Guy

    Lightweights:
    King of the Hill
    Simpsons (all other seasons)
    Futurama (movies)

    Flyweight:
American Dad (don't really like it)

At least they keep it fresh, they don't recycle episodes where the same thing happens, but only to different characters ie. The Simpsons. To me, S.P. has been a great show since creation, but IMOP the last few years have been better, but hey, you're talking to a pure "pop culture" hater, so sometimes when no one will call out some of these people, and S.P. will, and I respect that. They have that "F*** the fallout" mentality and you have to love it.
