These are the comments from Mcnair. I don't think there will be a coaching change. It feels like the Texans are the donkeys trying to forever chase the carrot (playoffs). Every time it feels like they are inching closer and closer, but in reality, they are in the same spot every year. I don't think Mcnair realizes this. Every year its the same thing "we are almost there, we are heading in the right direction". Even moving forward, the goal isn't getting any closer. The illusion is that they are getting better (closer games, come from behind wins), the result hasn't change a bit (the record). Something drastic needs to be done or the Texans will forever be stuck in mediocrity. Even if they keep Kubiak, there has to be changes somewhere. Staying the course and trying to inch closer year by year isn't going to cut it.
I wish there could be an open forum/town hall meeting for season ticket holders where we could ask these clowns questions. I would LOVE to rip their "Let's just keep on battlin'" mentality a new cornhole.
I'd like to think we could somehow show McNair that we're not going to accept the status quo anymore.. but no way anyone would just not show up to the games. We were punished for too long post-Oilers to boycott NFL games, even if we suck.
Here is the problem. We will make the playoffs next year. No matter who the coach is . . . IMO However. The same mistakes and issues will be there. We will simply be playing more Randy Smiths than Flaccos next year Meaning our schedule will be softer I am not sure where out division foes will be never year will they all improve? That Being Said. IMO Kubiak can be here 17 yrs and well will NEVER Sniff a superbowl. I think if he was here 17 yrs. . . the wins will oscilate between 7-9 and 10-6 at best. Rocket River
If McNair only fires Fran Bush and lets Kubiak/Smith continue to call all the shots...I wouldn't bet on the playoffs. Our schedule won't be easier than it was last year, and we underachieved our way to 9-7. Say Ryans doesn't get back to his old self (probable), say Mario doesn't regain pro bowl form (possible), and/or Schaub goes down for a stretch...it could get bad. Hands down, they BLEW it last year.
They blew it THIS year. The Colts are a .500 team, for the first time in a long time the division was there for the taking.
It seems like every time we step in the right directions in some area, we go backwards in another. What happened to special teams? This is something that needs to be brought up more. I remember Jacoby was a legitamte TD threat last year. Now it's like 70% of his returns are fair catches. Turk has been terribly inconsistent. I would kill to have the punts that the Ravens were giving us. Not to mention our running game is flourishing, then our pass game takes a step back. Red zone production is up, but now we can't keep other teams from scoring touchdowns.
'Hey, at least we were close. All the fellow owners were praising my team for the comeback they had! I've never seen such support like that. We're headed in the right direction. Our kids just need to keep battlin' and keep their heads up. I told them not to get too down. For all the losses we have had this yar, at least our kids came back and we're battlin' and that's all you can ask for.' Sad thing is, the guy believes himself.
Uncle D has made the playoffs 6 times (and a world series trip) in a sport where only 4 teams get to go. Not fair to Drayton , he want's to win on a budget, McNair just wants to stay on budget, winning is just a possible perk.
Season after season of 5-7 after week 13. Depressing how he thinks we're gaining speed when we're really just changing lanes. Outside of a bill board or maiming an effigy of Gary, we as fans are optionless.
If Uncle Bob thinks false praise from his competitors is proof that he's making proper business decisions, we'll never see the Texans become an elite organization as long as he's owner. What a horrible day, Yao is finished and Bob McNair opens his mouth and confirms what most of us already thought about him, he's hopelessly out of touch. And this is why the Chronic sucks. They should be ripping McNair over his latest comments, but they won't.
Someone give that man a Compass and a Map! Even if we on the right track . . . . .WE NOT MOVING!! Rocket River
Nope, those Astro teams were owned by Drayton McLane, these last fives years Uncle "D" has taken over. I actually believe Uncle Bob wants to win but he is listening to ALL the wrong people and is to loyal for his good. The dude has a pretty high payroll and has signed his guys to big time extensions, so I won't buy this "all he wants to do is make money" excuse. To be honest, his blind faith in his coaches is what makes this an attractive destination for coaches around the league but his problem is that he doesn't have someone there to slap him around if he goes wacky. Uncle Bob isn't cheap, he is just ignorant when it comes to Football.
I just have this image in my head of McNair walking into a conference room with all the other owners. They all shower him with praise and tell him what a great job he's doing in Houston and how surely they'll be in the playoffs next year. McNair smiles as he leaves the room, confident that his team is indeed on the right track. The door closes, leaving just the other 31 owners in the room. There's a pause. And then everybody just busts out laughing. Grown men are keeling over on the floor, unable to control themselves after the prank they just played.
