Got this from HPF.com. Please don't make this a VY/Bush bash thread, but Carr should be the one guy who watches film the most, not the guy coaches and teamates complain about not watching enough.

It's a pretty good read though, little dated. Kubiak talks a bunch about Carr.

    Draft Vince Young!

Just kidding, I think David Carr will be a good QB. He needs to do a better job at reading Defenses.

You can't play a professional football without watching game film.

    Carr doesn't watch film?

If true, that might explain his slow development.
I guess it gives us reason for hope, if that is indeed a problem- it can and should be fixed.

I think Carr has been pampered, he has had ZERO competition for the starting QB job.

Draft Vince, watch Carr become the player or flop he will become.

I've heard he watches film at home....and some teammates resent it, because they don't see him as prepared at gametime.

Good thing David is a tough guy who could never come off as a pretty boy because that watchin tape at home would make most people come off as a prima-donna.

Seriously though, it is a bad move for your teams Qb to be alienating himself from the team this way. Hopefully Kubes can help him see this......

    Oh yeah, Draft Vince!!!!
    or Reggie!!!!!

Did we really need another reason to beatup Carr?

Granted the sacks were not always the fault of his lineman. I think he suffers from shell shock from the first 3 seasons. Either way, who cares? We have him next season, so get over it.

If he sucks after next season, then b**** to your hearts content.

swilkins -- it is what it is. call it b****ing or whatever. when a guy isn't performing on the field and you find out some are questioning his commitment off the field...well..that kind of lends itself to criticism. particularly from people who pay a lot of money to watch them play.

    True

I have been a season ticket holder since the first season.

My point is that there were so many holes that Carr may or may not have been a major part of the problem. I believe that next season will give us a better indication on just how effective Carr might be, when he has the proper surrounding cast and coaching.

Until then, it's all opinion and (IMO) meaningless seeing that the team has committed to Carr and most likely Bush. I like Young and would support the Texans, if they drafted him. It would have told me that the coaching did not have confidence in Carr and decided to start over. That's just not the case.

I remember hearing an interview with McClain (John, that is) and he said a couple of interesting things about Carr.

Carr is a BIG TIME family man. He is devoted to his wife and kids and prefers to watch film at home so he can be around his kids. Coaches have always made him videos for home and he has an entire video setup at his house similar to what they have at Reliant.

He is NEVER out of shape. The guy is a workout-a-holic. He just doesn't do it at Reliant as much as everyone else.

Interestingly though, McClain said that Carr has completely re-dedicated himself this offseason. He has been at the facility every day from early in the morning to well into the evening studying with the coaching staff. Kubiak apparently had a heart-to-heart with him and told him that to be the player he wants to be, he can't do it like he has been and Carr has taken to it.

We'll see what that means when they hit the field.

Ya, I heard that Carr has really turned things around, hopefully it will translate on the field.

I just thought it was strange for a QB who gets sacked as much as Carr does not to watch film w/ the team. Watching it w/ his OL would probably help them be on the same page.

    That's encouraging.

I was not a big D Carr fan last season because I felt he was freezing Andre Johnson, and I just couldn't understand that, unless some coach was telling him to throw away from AJ.

I also do not like his vertical game much. He doesn't have good timing on long passes- Andre took alot of balls away from defenders two yrs . ago.

I hope he improves, he has the arm strength to make all the throws.

Guys - get over it. We're not drafting Vince. Your campaign to smear Carr with whatever bit of rumor you heard from your top secret message board is not going to change the Texans' opinion.

Rumor from a message board? Did you even bother reading the article? Like I said, don't make this a VY/Bush bash thread, you and I will both agree there has been enough of that.

If that is your intention than just stay out of the thread. Seems like everyone else but you can actually talk about something else.
