To all the people who worship Kobe: how do you like them apples ? As if throwing his team under the bus and quitting on the Lakers, wanting out a few years back wasn't enough.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but some Kobe lovers do not acknowledge the guy would also do anything to get a championship. If that means quitting on his team, leaving or getting another superstar, so be it.

^^ I normally don't defend kobe, but he's going on to the tail end of his career. He won't have many years left considering how much mileage he has going. The other "people" you are referring to are all in their prime or just hitting their prime.

Calling out an incompetent management = throwing team under the bus? Lol wut. If he didn't go to the media and demand a trade there would be no Ariza, there would be no return on Derek Fisher to LA, Smush Parker would still be on the team, Kwame would still be on the team. He said the things that he said so that management will quit being lazy and content with the $$ they were bringing in and actually put a championship team on the floor. They were proactive because of Kobe.

I don't think it would have worked out quite well. Both Kobe and Melo need the ball in their hands the majority of the time to be successful.

Melo chose the right team to go to, some place where chucking the ball 75% of the time is actually not frowned upon.

It can work out. Kobe is a willing passer and will defer to anyone who he respects and he respects Melo. Both of their games compliment each other, both of them can set up camp in the post and both can knock down an open jumpshot. Getting a perimeter shot cretors lifts the burden out of Kobe.

They are friends, nothing wrong with them wanting to play together.

ofcourse its not just, but it is a huge factor. And kobe was incredible in all the championships including the ones with shaq. He had some special moments in wins and losses. Somepeople love to bring up that gave 7 where he had an off games and pretend like that is not hte nature of the game, how about MJ(the GOAT) in the championship clinching against the sonics in the finals he shot under 30 percent one game...sometimes they don't fall, doesnt take away that you have two great players that are all about winning. They rub people hte wrong way but you can never doubt their intentions that it is all about getting that ring when with lebron you dont know if he has the heart in it, it might be more status or celebrity or sellign shoes more than really that obsession with winning and hoops

once again, was robert horry a star on those teams? Even with shaq kobe was the closer and a star on the team. That is a real sad response... Championships matter plain and simple, there are differnet levels, but kobe is a leader and a star on 5 championships squads, even back to back without shaq as well.

Even with Shaq a top center, he was a 20 plus scorer and the closer of games...with lebron, we saw in the biggest stage he let wade take all the big shots, and just struggled to be engaged. That is what many people talk about, lebron is great, stat stuffer iwthout of this world athleticism, but he might be missing a certain dna or obsession about hoops and winning like the mj's, kobes, etc.

What would the Lakers give up for Melo in the first place?

One of the reasons why there's a lockout in the 1st place.

Technically Carmelo would be a free agent if the lockout ended wouldn't he? Or did he re-up with the Knicks after the trade?

If they're gonna create super teams in the East, I'd rather see them get Chris Paul. Remember all the Paul to Chandler allley-oops? I can't imagine what that could be with Amare.
