I've bought two cars through them. The price was reasonable and the cars are newer with low miles. The two cars I bought still had factory warranties and they offer extended warranties. Plus the website is nice, you can see the cars online. They have just about any dealer beat when it comes to online browsing.
GREAT experience buying my '01 4Runner from them. No hassles More $$$ for your trade in Cool people Reasonable financing Did I mention no hassles? I went in, picked out my truck, test drove it, then picked it up that night. Quick and painless.
3 years later I wanted to see if any more of you have dealt with Carmax. My wife and I are thinking about buying our first...ugh...minivan. (We haven't bought the soccer mom window decals just yet, thank you.) Our family has outgrown my wifes small car, but I'm not looking to buy new necessarily.
No thanks. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra C3 and 4 months ago they only offered me 14.5. It only had 30k miles, leather interior, with no damage. Totally clean. The bed diesn't even have a scratch. I know that the gas guzzlers aren't worth as much as they used to, but that's insulting. I decided to pay it off.
not sure if its a good place to sell a car, but to buy one, I had a good experience...I even changed my mind and they took it back, no questions...
My bro-in-law was pretty much taken advantage of on a Taurus there. But then again he had no previous credit either. It is what it is. My only used cars I ever bought were through a local small town "you sell it" type lot, or an actual dealer (like a Detroit big 3 "pre-owned" lot). Once you buy new... you know why you did it.
this will clear up your problem: carmax was ok, but didnt have what i was looking for. the no haggle is nice if you want to pay sticker.
Take a look at the trade-in or even private party value on Kelley Blue Book, it looks like they actually offered you a decent deal. It's not fair, but American cars, especially trucks and SUV just don't hold their value in the current high oil prices environment. You can't expect them to pay you for more than what it's worth. BTW, paying it off is probably the correct move, and just remember, buy a Toyota next time
