Vote Carlos into the All Star game: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080706&content_id=3076894&vkey=allstar2008&fext=.jsp
Carlos Lee in last place http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080709&content_id=3099670&vkey=allstar2008&fext=.jsp With more than 33 million votes cast, and everything from fake mustaches to candy hearts to club alliances and fan pacts becoming all the rage, the Monster 2008 All-Star Game Final Vote approached its final hours, and there was no change in the latest nominee standings. However, wild three-way races are emerging in both leagues. Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria continues to hold off the charges of his closest two competitors in the American League, Jermaine Dye of the White Sox and Jason Giambi of the Yankees, as each has totaled more than 3.75 million votes. Brian Roberts of the Orioles and Jose Guillen of the Royals round out the current standings in fourth and fifth place, respectively. On the National League side, Brewers outfielder Corey Hart remains atop the standings despite significant challenges from David Wright of the Mets and Pat Burrell of the Phillies. The top three candidates, who have each accumulated nearly 4 million votes, are followed by Aaron Rowand of the Giants and Carlos Lee of the Astros. The 100 millionth vote in the history of the Monster All-Star Game Final Vote was cast Tuesday night, and fans needed only half as long as last year to demolish the 2007 Final Vote record of 23.2 million votes. This balloting period ends at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, and the final 24 hours easily could wipe out any one-day voting record at MLB.com and approach whatever one-day Internet voting record that exists.
my 8 year old son on summer vacation has made a valiant effort, and i'm guessing he accounts for about half of Mr. Lee's votes to this point.
are people accidentally choosing corey hart instead of carlos lee? their names are right next to each other on the ballot and that's the only reason i can think of... unless brewer fans are just rabid.
What does Hart have over Lee? Batting average? No. They're both at .293 Homers? No. Carlos has 21, 7 more than Hart. RBI? No. Carlos is 2nd in the NL and has 16 more than Hart. OBP? No. .345 to .332 Sugging? No. .548 to .504 OPS? Obviously not. .893 to .837 Carlos is in the top 10 in 2 categories (HR and RBI) and is 11th in slugging. Hart is in the top 10 in zero categories. The only thing that Hart has going for him is 9 more steals and the fact that he's playing for a contender. I guess the last part accounts for most of it.
he lost... It's a shame that Varitek made the ASG with his .220 batting average, you might as well put Bourn there, he has comparable numbers, and has a lot more stolen bases! Defense is similar. Also, Fukudome doesn't deserve it over Lee either.
Come on Nick. It might have been bad spending, but you know that's not a good argument. The All-Star game??
He is making 12.5 this year. He is second in the NL in RBIs. He was brought in here to drive in runs and he has done a good job of that. It might have been a bad contract since we have no pitching, but it isn't like he hasn't produced.
Carlos and Burrel got majorly screwed, Hart or Wright do not deserve to be on this team, but I guess playing for the Mets means you deserve a spot.
