I really don't understand these players. What will a couple million more do to him? If I get to the NBA, I do everything possible to stay there even if it means playing for the minimum, not willingly go to play in a sandbox. And he goes to Russia of all places???
Delfino made the right decision. He's functional at the NBA level but just can't quite put it together.
It's great. Then, he is following your signature's advice. If he were to stay here, it would mean more europeans players here.
I think in another few decades, there could be questions on whether NBA is even the best leagues any longer.
a COUPLE million? He is rumored to be getting a 30 million dollar contract for 3 seasons...10 mil per.
First, I'm willing to bet you've never been to Russia. In fact, your attitude suggests you've probably never been overseas at all. Guess what? The rest of the world is worthwhile too. It isn't as though he's going some place dangerous like Iraq or Zimbabwe or something. Second, they say that between the amount of euros he's being paid + the fact his pay check is 100% tax exempt, it's like being paid 9 million a year. 9 million a year for a guy who is a third stringer in the NBA. So let's see - 1-2 million a year to rot on the bench in Detroit (which is probably more dangerous than many parts of Russia anyway) or 9 million a year to be a superstar in Russia? Hmmm. That's a really difficult decision. Especially for somebody who is going to be living in a foreign land either way. p.s. If I was a professional basketball player and could get equal play to play in Barcelona, I'd leave the NBA in a heartbeat. That city is amazing. NBA and best competition in the world be damned.
