Mets owner doesn’t care. He will write off Broke Back Carlos in a few years. He will hopefully (for his sake) geta championship or 2 before the injuries set in. Carlos is desperate because he was willing to play 3rd base, something he said he would never do.

Why are people so thrilled to save billionaires dollars?

Unless your team has a threshold they refuse to cheapen over for some reason?

Sure would be nice to have the kind of "desperation" that involves signing a $300M+ contract that sets me and my next few generations up for life. Such a poor, desperate soul...

All of this is irrelevant to all your wrong takes. But keep digging.

I think that's a fairly naive way of looking at things. Every owner has a budget they are willing to spend, spending foolishly just to say you did can lead to your team ending up screwed in the long term.

I prefer for teams to be wise with their spending, especially when they already have the best team in the league.

Nothing wrong with getting bang for your buck, but when you write "getting screwed in the long term," there are exceptions to that like when the owner is so rich that the money doesn't impact future spending. You're completely right if the MLB had a similar cap system to the NBA or of course, the NFL.

I don't think there's many, if any owners that can maintain blank check style management for very long. Especially if you are throwing massive contacts at guys who may be just collecting a check for years beyond when their ability to pay ends.

The Mets are looking at spending nearly 400 million dollars a year on the main roster alone, that's unsustainable given their revenue might be half of that.

Even billionaires can only afford to light a finite amount of money on fire.

Cohen can simply call up his buddies at the Federal Reserve and have them buy bonds by the billions, he’s got infinite money.

In case your hole wasn't big enough, this is yet another thing that's simply untrue.

    From 2021...

That's fine, but most owners aren't in that kind of position. Even if they are billionaires, that doesn't mean they have billions in liquidity or that they can afford to take tens or hundreds of millions in losses annually.

I know Craine sure as hell can't.

Can you hit 275-280 with 17-25 HRs and play SS/3rd base? Then you too can have $300 mil

It was coming down to one team willing to give him the money (after Giants). Sure, he would play 3rd for $300+ mil.

So you lied about the fact that he said he'd never play 3B.

BTW, Twins also offered him 10 yrs, $285 million yesterday (same as their offer before the Giants deal). Detroit offered him 10 years last year. That's 4 teams that we know of so far.

Keep riding Broke Back Correa’s dick. Become a Mets fan. I’m glad he is not an Astros. Correa only let 3rd base become an option when the $300 million was slipping away. Only the Giants and Mets were going there.

To be clear, you are saying that in the 2 years Correa was in free agency, he NEVER considered 3rd base as an option until Tuesday?

Links to anything he said about refusing to go to 3rd base once he entered free agency after the 2021 season?
