Exactly. It’s not a path every market or owner can take, but it’s absolutely the right path for the richest owner in the game in the biggest market in the game.

He’s also running a business… and the success of that business will continue to dictate everything, as has always been true throughout sports history.

He's been an owner for all of 2 years. Who knows what he will do if his $350MM payroll goes nowhere. Will he trade away the farm out of desperation? Stop spending? Who really knows - he hasn't lived the reality yet so it's all hopes and dreams right now.

Personally, I'd take the owner that's proven it, stayed true to his plan even when things looked bleak, and actually had the most success in baseball. But I guess that just makes him a cheapskate for not throwing a decade-long successful plan out the window so we get some random middle-tier players on overpriced deals.

The Mets won’t have 450 million dollar payrolls forever, they’re doing what the Dodgers did from 2013-2016, using money to buy wins while the farm rebuilds.

Exactly. They are going to be good for a long time, as they should, just like the dodgers.

Much better that money goes into cranes pocket. Glad we got that settled.

Much better that they have that money available next offseason or whenever an ideal deal presents itself to fill an actual need with a good player, instead of wasting it on a 4-year contract just to avoid being called cheap.

Sauces tell me he failed his physical and his deal is being re-routed to the astros on a team friendly deal.

Daniella didn't give him another in-house massage after signing the contract did she?

    Pretty crazy stuff.

How does it work when a free agent of this magnitude fails a physical? Do the Giants rescind the offer? Does Correa sign elsewhere now for a cheaper deal?

The contract is not signed until it's signed. If the Giants rescind the offer Correa goes back to the FA market. This is intriguing stuff.

We've known for quite a while now that he's got a bad back, it's why he wanted such a long contract, he knows he's not going to last very long in the league.

Let's see what the Giants do, maybe they try to alter the deal to get an out so they aren't stuck paying a guy to not play for 7 years
