Going from number one option at times in Houston, to watching Tyreke Evans take ever shot he can get off, there is no way he likes it there. A few times tonight Carl has had great position and the Kings have failed to give him the ball. This team will never be good until they get a real point guard and let Evans run the two. He kills his team, but puts up nice numbers.
They have a real PG. His name is Beno. But their offense is very much Tyreke-centered. He is talented, but so was Steve Francis. As for Landry... As Kings is very much a 23 and younger squad, even Carl is an old man among these kids. I wonder if he becomes unhappy (and ineffective) without the guys feeding him, whether the Kings would gladly trade him for a pick (and it's looking like the Rockets will have a late-lotto pick in a year with some very good bigs).
Beno is the point guard in the boxscore. Evans is there point guard in the game. I completely understand why Martin couldn't thrive there, Evans dribbles the ball around for 20 seconds all while looking for his best oppurtunity to score. If nothing there, pass the ball to a shooter to jack up a contested shot. They will never be title contenders for this reason. Point guards who hog the ball, don't win championships.
I know it isn't going to happen, but I'd like to get Carl back to the Rockets with the probable #12 pick and Jordan Hill. Yes, I know Morey doesn't want to have to make that call to Buddy Baker (is that the agent's name?), I know this is territory well-trod, I just can't help it. Unless Morey can work some magic and upgrade our team at the 4 in the summer with the players we have.....and NOT lose Scola for nothing, etc etc. Carl Landry, you deserve one long-a$$ standing ovation when the Kings swing through the Toyota Center.
This upcoming draft is loaded with big men. I'm pretty confident thats where Morey is hoping to get his replacement.
Carl is going to murder our frontline. Isn't he a free agent this year? We should have some money if sign and trade doesn't workout, to resign him. If you have to pick between Scola and Landry, you take Landry(future).
Landry and Morey had a wink wink deal where Morey would send Carl off for the remainder of this season since we're likely to miss the playoffs anyways. In return Morey asked Landry to fly under the radar (NOT tear it up in Sac) and re-sign with Houston in the off-season for a nice new contract.
Evans is going through something that happens to all great wing players when they're young. Durant was a chucker. Melo was a chucker. Lebron I think was considered a chucker, although his game matured at an unreal pace. I'm not saying Evans will become a superstar, because he could easily just turn into a taller Steve Francis. But you have to give the guy some time to develop.
I said that Evans was a ballhog and that probably had a lot to do with Martin's production. Just look at the first few games as a rocket when Brooks was seemingly ignoring the guy, even when he got a shot he bricked it. Must be a mental thing with him. Now that he knows the ball is coming his way, he's been producing like the favorite Martin we all know. It's Tyreke's rookie year though, so i'll give him some slack.
Evans is a stud no doubt, but he needs to learn to pick his spots. I just dont know of a point guard who is shoot first, that is capable of leading his to team to a championship.
Tony Parker. And it's usually wings and bigs that lead teams to championships with few exceptions. PGs are usually role players on championship teams. Evans with two clutch buckets than a nice kick to Hawes that Hawes didn't convert.
Why do people say that? Whenever people put that little statement at the end of a seemingly innocuous sentence I think they are really having Homosexuals thoughts.. I LOVE CARL.. no what?
Would say it was 100% more Duncan than Parker as the leader. Paker = "glorified" role player. Although immensely important, he certainly didn't "lead". Still........Tyreke looking to score is fine, but also needs to recognize the open teammates more often.
