So far I've hooked my face, hooked a 14" brown and gotten hooked by a friend...

Yesterday, though, was the worst day out for me and my pals.

We had all gotten into our waders and boots and had started tying the first flies on. One of my friends was taking up the rear bumper, the other friend had his rod across my back seat and I had put my rod together and through the hatchback so that I could sit in the driver's seat and tie my fly on.

Keep in mind that all of our rods are 9' long. A 9' long rod across a back seat has alot of its body hanging outside of the door.

Well, a wind picked up. The wind grabbed ahold of my back left passenger door and slammed it shut on my friend's fly rod. Modern day fly rods are made out of graphite... perfect for bending but horrible for impacts. His rod was destroyed.

We were at the middle Provo, just outside of Heber, UT... not known for its nightlife... but the most beautiful view of Timpanogos I think possible. I could see the stoneflys coming up off of the river yesterday. Dry fly fishing is as close to GOD as I'll ever know. The sky was beautiful... the trees and grass as green as green will ever be.

The guy whose rod broke told us to go fish, but the other friend fishing was his girlfriend. She said we should leave and that we weren't going to make him waste his day.

    We left.

Morale of Story: Be sure the friends you are taking fishing are committed to the cause, and if not get some new friends
