I graduated from UH-Clear Lake with a BS in CS back in 93. I've never used any of the calculus, differential equations, electronics, and physics.

Some of the advances math is useful, however, like Linear Equations, Statistics, Probability. Physics is useful, I suppose, if you doing game development. Although now, I believe, most of that is built into the engines.

I will admit, though, as someone who is involved in interviews and hiring, your choice in education does say something about you. From a technical institute, to an online school, to a MIS or CIS, to a CS, to some extent says how hard you were willing to work.

I don't know what they're teaching these days, but I would recommend any courses that cover development processes (Agile, RUP, MSF), object-oriented analysis & design, design patterns, modeling (UML), event-driven programming (this is kinda old now, but everything was procedural when I was in college).

Anyway, given the choice, I'd go for the CS degree. Anything to set yourself apart. That said, a masters is a bit of an overkill.

After reading a lot of the posts and going back and evaluating what I really want to do, I found it very difficult to cope with the idea of changing major to something a little easier. I discovered how much I really want to pursue CS, partly because of what you said about the hiring process and partly because its something that I really want to do.

A few posts were kind of inspirational and made me realize that I was thinking too much of "what if I fail, Im already behind as it is"...instead of just getting on track and working hard of on my classes.

Thanks guys. You're advice really helped. Now I dont have to talk to my adviser about what I should pursue. :D

See you at the crossroads, crossroads, crossroads
So you won't be lonely (4x)
    And I'm gonna miss everybody
And I'm gonna miss everybody when I'm gone (3x)
Living in a hateful world sending me straight to Heaven
    That's how we roll (3x)
And I'm asking the good Lord "why?" and sigh
It's I he told me we live to die
What's up with murder y'all, see my little cousin was hung
Somebody was really wrong, everybody want to test us dawg
Then Miss Sleazy set up Eazy to fall, you know why we sinning
And Krayzie intended on ending it when it ends
Wanna come again, again and again
Now tell me whatcha gonna do
Can somebody anybody tell me why?
Hey, can somebody anybody tell me why we die, we die?
    I don't wanna die
    Oh so wrong, oh wrong
