The other day I let my sister move my car, she's still learning. All I needed her to do was back out the drive way and park infront of the house. We have a hooded storm drain right by our drive way and she drove the rigth wheel right into it. I guess this would be the same as driving into a really bad pothole. I'm hoping that all I need to do is get a realignment on the front wheels, but when driving, it feels really bad. The steering wheel jerks left and right on it's own and when slowing down, or going 40, it shakes quite a bit. Is it possible I have a broken shock or strut? I just want to know what to be prepared for before I go to the mechanic.
you probably need to get your car realigned. They can do that at a place like a NTB EDIT: I am hardly an expert, but I had alignment problems with a car years ago and the steering wheel would shake a lot when it got to higher speeds
Well I took it to Meineke because I had a coupon for a $38 for 2 wheels, but their machine broke before they even looked at it. I then took it to NTB and they wouldn't even do it because the front tires were so warped they couldn't do it properly and they need to be changed. I was gonna do that this month anyway, but not there. The guy who owns the house we rent owns a Goodyear shop and we get a small discount there. I didn't get a chance to see the sway bar response before I left, so I didn't ask they guy if he noticed that. I hope it's just the alignment, but it feels a lot worse with the steering wheel jerking left and right on it's own when I'm driving straight.
Im sure the alignment will help but you might need a camber kit. There is a firestone on Dairy Ashford and Bellaire (south). $50 for allignment and they are honest.
