I'm about to get my car tinted and I was just wondering what percent you guys have yours at? I'm thinking 20% but I don't know if that's too dark... does anyone ever get problems with the law over tinting?

You can tint the back and rear door windows (on a 4 door car) with anything % you want. The tint only matters in the driver/passenger side windows.

I'm not sure what the limit is but make sure you can see inside fairly easily.

The only thing about really dark tint on the rear window is backing up at night. If it's super dark you won't be able to see a thing.

Legit Tinting places will not put illegal tint on your front, Driver, Passenger windows anyways.

My entire Subaru has 0% tint. Amazingly, the cops have never stopped me for it!

Your Front windows must allow more than 25% of light in. Your rear passenger and back window can be zero percent. The new law also requires that a sticker that identifies your tint as state legal must be in between the glass and the window.

I have a two seat sports car with limo tint (0%) on the sides and have never been pulled over for it although it looks dark as hell in the bright sunshine. I also have 10% on my Jeep's side windows. You have to find a shop to do the darker tint and they'll most likely only take cash for this so they can't be traced back and lose their license.

Wait, I meant 100%. What's completely clear with zero tint? Yeah, that's me.

100% would mean you allow at least 100% of the light in though. 25%, the legal limit, says the fronts must allow at least 25% of light in.

    LOUD NOISES!!!

I have 20% all around, and it looks damn good. I think its the perfect balance, not too dark, and not too light.

    Bumping this.

Besides what is already in this thread, and the few others I searched through, does anyone know of any good reputable tint shops or people who do the mobile service?

I'm trying to stay away from Executive Tint. The reviews are either really good or really bad.

I've taken 2 cars there on the one near bunker hill. I am very pleased, they have a lifetime warranty so if they **** up they'll take care of it.

I was referred to the guys below by Momentum Jaguar/LandRover. He traveled to my job and put tint on my wife's car while I was working and did a very good job. If interested give 'em a call. Lifetime warranty came with the job.

I've been to Executive Tint and did not like their work (tint and electronics install).

    Try this place: http://impactdeals.com/coupons/c/7055-tomball-tinters
    Tomball Tinters
Good BBB rating for what it's worth: http://www.bbb.org/houston/business-reviews/auto-detailing/tomball-tinters-in-tomball-tx-54420

I actually own and operate a car audio / tint shop here on the nw side of Houston, willow brook area.

The law says the front doors (driver/passenger) need to be a 25% or lighter. Most shops my self included lay a 35% in the front because once it lays and drys it'll drop any where from 5 - 10 % so it'll still pass inspection.

Make sure and pay a little more and get some higher quality tint if you are planning on keeping the car for a longer period of time. It not only lasts 10 + yrs but also has more UV protection.

Any clutchfans discount/deals? I'd much rather get my car done where I can at least talk to the owner/operator before committing.

I have 35% tint all around my Audi silver sedan and it looks subtle yet stylish. Personally, 20% is a bit dark for my taste and it runs the risk of getting a ticket. What kind of ride do you have? Two or four door?

I have taken every single car that I own and have owned to Executive on Hillcroft and I never had any problems. If your tint has life time warranty they are also really good about fixing any issues.
