I don't want anything to go thumping down the street. I'm fine with the speakers. But, I'd like to replace the receiver with something that is satellite ready with a CD player and, most importantly, an MP3 player connection for inside the glove compartment.

Any suggestions on what, where, how much? I don't need or ant to spend a fortune.

It would be helpful to know how much you're looking to spend.

Take a look at Crutchfield. They have everything in most every price range.

Pretty much any of the name brands ought to have what you're looking for. Check Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, etc.

Again, your price range would be good.

Oh, Jesus. Okay, then. How little do you want to spend? Usually when folks are talking about that kind of money just for the deck alone, they're outfitting their whole rig to go "thumping down the street."

Crutchfield has a Kenwood deck for $79.99 with front auxiliary input, for example. This one doesn't seem to be satellite ready, though. LINK

They also have an Alpine with "MP3, WMA, AAC playback • compatible with Alpine Bluetooth and iPod adapters • satellite and HD Radio ready" for $199.99.
    LINK

Check their site. They'll have what you're looking for. If you want to buy local, at least do your homework on Crutchfield. Most all the stores offer free installation.

For me, something between $150 and $250 would be ideal. Crutchfield looks like a good place. I remember that catalog from high school.

    Jeff-

Are you looking for someone to install if for you? If so, I advise you not to go to Best Buy, Circuit City, Tweeter, or any other of those cookie cutter shops. They hire entry level people to do the installs.

If you are interested, I can email/PM you a contact who has his own shop here in Houston, and just finished my truck. He's done a few celebrity vehicles as well. The best part is that he's very creative when it comes to working within your budget, and he's VERY detailed.

    No problem.

    I couldn't PM/email, so give Aaron a call @ 713.560.9153.

Tell him that Ken with the white F-250 sent you.

Good luck and let me know it goes.

Best Buy, Circuit city is probably still a better option than buying and installing yourself. For 99% of the people anyways.

I have an Alpine that has a dedicated ipod connection, aux input connection, and is Satellite ready for about 200 at Tweeters. Installed it myself though.

I'd also like a new deck.. but I'm fine with my speakers.

Basically I'd like an auxiliary input for my mp3 player.. and I'd like the volume to be a turning wheel (and not +/- buttons). Aside from that, I'd just like it to look as nice as possible and be under $300.

I'm not sure how to find an installer out here in the DC area, so I might just ask this one dude I know through his gf if he wants to help me out since he knows that stuff.

If shawn can't get you a deal (which I highly doubt if he owns his own store), try going through eBay. As for unit suggestions: Alpine and Pioneer Premier. If those are out of your range, I also like Kenwood eXcelon line. But definitely Alpine or Pioneer Premier.

Hey Shawn, any deals on double-din screens?

I wouldn't go anywhere that knowingly did business with rapers.

(Oh wait.. that would be "rapists" though, right? Simple typo. Carry on.)
