I purchased a used vehicle a few weeks ago.

I noticed that my model has a few recalls. I was wondering if the car has to be under the original owners name or under warranty to take benefit of the recall?

And how would one find out if the vehicle has taken advantage of the recall or not?

    Thanks.

I believe it is all based on the VIN.

Pretty sure yeah... but you may want to just call in first and ask the service department. Save a trip in case. ;)

why dont u call the guy who you bought the car from and ask him?

making things harder than they have to be!

Dude, that would be two steps.

Call the dealer with the VIN.

    Done.

No, it doesnt have to be under the original owner's name. It's different from warranty work. It's often a safety issue and it doesn't matter who owns it.

Yes, you can call the dealer, and they should have the car's history through the VIN.
